Hello all

I have been doing a little searching around the forums here on TDR and I have a question about Dynos, It seems that we here at TDR do not like the dynojet or the mustang but we do like the superflow is it safe to say that dynojets do not do a good service for us diesel trucks owners after a lot of talk with fellow CTD owners they all feel that the numbers for my dynojet dyno run are A little low are there things that I should know or is there a chance that the dyno run was done wrong All advice and help would be appreciated. the numbers were

270/612

thank you

I got my truck dyno on a dynojet 248c. The owner of the dyno told me that he put his friends GMC on it and it put out like around 430hp. Then latter they went to a Mustang Dyno and the truck put out over 125hp more than the his Dynojet.

Many articles have been written on comparing the results of various makes of dynos. Sport Compact Car did a very good test years ago between a few makes and even came resonably close at throwing a percentage difference between the different makes. They recently did a test of several 4wd dynos and let's just say the results were all over the place. Is that to say any one dyno is wrong or another is right? Nope. Some makes do, in general, read higher than others. Setup and the input of various correction factors can skew numbers as well. A local dyno owner, who rents the dyno to another local tuner, says that this guy likes to turn all the correction factors up and show readings on a different scale (was it DIN v. SAE?) so that he can produce a graph with big numbers.

The morral of the story is that a dyno is a tuning tool. If you want to brag hit up a dyno that's throwing out big numbers. If you want to tune and see if you're making gains between trips any dyno will work. Just stick with the same one and the same settings between trips.
