Was bored the other day and decided to play with the new optical pickup for the dynojet. Here are the details:

04. 5 CTD

6-Speed

4. 10s

Stock Turbo

TTP 4" Down-pipe back Exhaust (Bullet muffler)

aFe Proguard Intake

TST PowermaxCR

Stock power (0/0) turned 256rwhp/461rwtq.

I haven't decided which route we are going with the turbo yet (And didn't want to blow this one up yet) so I kept the power low. The highest settings I went was power -6 , torque -4. Here is the dyno sheet:

did you pull in 6th or 5th gear?

hmmm, 175hp gain opn level 6? not to shabby

Your stock baselines seem low as to what others have reported. I thought just stock they put down around 270hp and torque was in the 500s. Was your clutch slipping?

Dyno was done in 5th gear (1:1). Clutch is slipping pretty bad when you start to apply power. When we get the time a SPEC stage 5 is going in.

Nineball: Unfortunately I didnt dyno before the mods so I couldnt tell ya. The truck went from the dealer to my house then to our shop with less than 100 miles everything went on.

My truck on 8/7 was 450. 1 hp but anything over would spin the stock clutch.

Why is it that y'all are slipping the hell out of your clutch on setting 8/7 and only getting 450 Horses or so, and I can run mine up and down the road on 9/5 and 9/6 and only have EGT issues?

I laid down almost 480 on the dyno... and I haven't been feeling my clutch slipping at all... while one of my buddies put a TST box on and can't get past setting 5/5 without losing all grabbing power?

Another curious question. When y'all say you are blowing a lot of smoke... I get a stretch of smoke on setting 9 and then it clears up. It's the same through every gear... maybe 20-40 feet of smoke and then clear air... is this how y'all are running?

Mine is running that way too. No dyno numbers, but small patch of smoke, then it clears. So far, max run I have done is 7/7, but the fuel pressure drops to nothing. I ran the pump out once, but since, let up at 3psi. I have only seen 1200-1250 for EGTs. I do have a PG-7 filter, TT, and 4" turbo back exhaust, to duals.

Do you have the new TST box? I have the very 1st 600 TST box out and its very aggresive than some others I have been in.

What was your torque?

It's a brand new box... but I believe that the numbers are as high or higher with my new box than the old aggressive box. I am dyno'ing consisently higher than most other older TST programs, and the power comes on much more smoothly.

I have the single miss at higher numbers. I don't like it, but I don't know where it's coming from, and it doesn't seem to be a big problem, so i ignore it.

No problems other than an initial P0336 code. Cleared it by unplugging the crank and cam sensor plugs and a good shot of dielectric grease. Smooth power, comes in easy, then builds up quickly. No abnormal noises, misfires, etc. Just got it installed Fri night.

Glad you're having good results! I may give it one more shot after I cool off a bit. Had a really bad time with vendors this last week...

I will agree that the new box makes just as much HP as the old ones. The new ones however wont make the torque like the old ones and torque is what breaks things and makes clutches slip. "Its not the power that hurts things its the delivery of it. "

Do the TST box have the de-fuel setting for EGT control like the Edge Juice/Attitude box does?

I got to see an Edge/Attitude yesterday for a Powerstroke and they are too sweet!

Yes you can set the EGT limiter from like 1000 -1700 deg or so or just turn it off. It only has the EGT limiter if you get the TST remote that has the built in gauges of course.

I usually run 4/4 and I had the occasional miss when I first installed the box about 13K miles ago but it hasn't done it in months. However, in the last couple of weeks it's tripped the eng light twice and set 0336 twice and the open injector circuit code once. I reseated the connectors on the TST today and I may try the dielectric goop this weekend. I hope there's not something going wrong with the box!

Why does it matter if you have 1100 ft/lbs. of torque at 1900 RPM's? Especially if you're breaking things like turbos and such. I would much rather have a few hundred less ft/lbs of torque at my peak RPM and still have more HP. If you're racing or pulling you're not trying to lug the motor down in the lower rpm's for more torque anyway. My peak power is at 3100 RPM's... and I like it there. Especially if i am playing around.

I like the smooth power, even more so since it's actually as much or more than the old box. Hell... I haven't even set a code with my TST.
