Bpine has done alot of testing with singles and runs 35/3B twins on his truck. He has tested turbos for several manufacturers. Might want to pm him if you want a good unbiased opinion on the twins vs single turbo issue. They are somewhat of a pain to build or install though. He also tows a house on wheels.

Just so you know Reb i went with twins for drivablitly not to set a HP record (stock wh1c/12 with a 23cm on the big one not 26 cm like most people use) i see you made 695 HP with your 12v with i assume a single also, any drugs though? I am familiar with Joe Ds set up and it is absolutly incredible what that guy can do with one of these trucks. As far as blowing my wad my homemade twins cost me just about as much as i was planning to spend on a really nice single, and you are correct its not about boost for power its airflow. i proved that to myself on the dyno by making 2 pulls at 50 psi and one at 60psi no significant power difference. I really appreciate everyones contribution here and i am by no means trying to rub anyone the wrong way. I dont think I made the wrong decision by going with twins on my little 160 pump my goal has always been 450 to 500 hp with nice driving habbits i know the 160 is capable of that granted it may not be as easy as with a 215.

No the 695 HP was with twins, but the 760 HP was with a big single that out runs the twins like crazy. Twins are just a pain in my opinion. You always have to worry about blowing intercoolers, hoses, head gaskets. They run cool on egt's, but make too much heat in front of the radiator, they heat up the engine oil twice as fast and ruin your oil twice as fast, they are too hard to controll your boost when towing. Yah, they look impressive but they don't do that much good. I just think people should know this before they put twins on there wish list. People think that by adding twins they are going to make to extreme amount of power right out of the box and its a false thought for many.

The biggest problem is you are trying to shove all that air from the 3B into that little turbo and it all binds up. Also, if you can't flow the exhaust, then you aren't going to make power and if you open the exhaust on a set of twins then they will run spool very slow so you're in the same boat. You will find out, ... run about 10 diffent twin set ups and about 25 different single set ups.

After the new year, singles will be back and selling like crazy. A huge compressor pin wheel and a variable design from 4 cm to 18. 5 cm (opening from exhaust pressure, not boost pressure) and the it wastegates. This turbo will be the most versitile turbo out there, ... 250-650 hp, tow awesome, reasonable boost pressures, and instant spool up the truck will run around a truck that has twins.

So does the new wonder turbo have a name. Or is it going to be another secret squirrel kind of thing. From the lead in it sounds like you are going to be a dealer.

A cheap way to help the top end would be 4,000 Governor springs W/ 60# valve springs and then increase the timing to first to 17* and then 19* to find out the best for your truck.

Hey man, yea the wastegate definatly opened i was in the truck during the run to make sure it did it made all 50 pounds and the last i pushed to 60psi

You need to raise the timing in the 160 pump because of the cut on the helix. The other problem is the shape of the cam lobe, there isn't enough fill time built into it to get fuel into the barrel. Another thing you might try is raise the fuel pressure, but you really need to start shopping for a 215 or even a cheap 180 to get the power up to where it should be.

As for the turbo, ATS has been showing it for over a year now. Steve from the old ATS designed it, the new ATS modified it a little more and its being tested now and almost ready to ship. Only thing i'm worried about is the turbo being too fast on the common rails and twisting itself in half. Suppossedly it being tested on a third gen with all sorts of boxes and inj. combos.

One more thing about high boost, ... . Joe D. told me something one time that really makes me think every one and a while..... He said that high boost can be a problem because the the boost can push the shot of fuel off to the side. Something to think about.
