I have only been to one dyno event, but I was sort of suprised to see that they were running the auto trucks in overdrive. I always thought that overdrive was not as strong as drive. Also I don't have any means of unlocking the TC under full throttle yet. At 400hp my TC was still holding, but I am worried that By spring I should be up to 450-475hp range and I think it may begin to slip. Should I invest in DDT smart controler or a mystery unlock switch? Also, wouldn't a truck dyno slightly less with the TC unlocked V. S. locked up?

Kevin, I really doubt you will slip the converter! Bill is noticing over time that very few converters are slipping(stock ones) what he is seeing is the O/D clutches are slipping instead, most people thing the converter is the end all... . nope! You could install and unlock switch if you wanted, but for the Dyno I run in O/D locked all the time, the main objective is pump speed(RPM) bring the rpm's up in O/D with it locked to say 1800 then roll on the throttle having it at WOT by 2K, if that is fine on that run try it at 1700 next run. If I'm on the Street and I'm at that low of RPM I bump the brake to unlock the converter then just hammer at will, gets too smoky at low RPM's.

Kevin, mine has been fine dyning in OD locked up. I have switches on mine(lockup, and 4th gr,so the trans stays in OD locked no matter what. I have about 500hp,so far so good. My VB was set up for 450Hp,so I may have slightly higher base pressures than you, maybe its time for you to have Scott go thru the vb,and or trans again,if it wasnt set up for 500hp.

Not the TC?

IF it is more likely to be a clutch failure, is the VB upgrade a good preventive action? If you have a good TC should you just keep it and not upgrade for power mods?

The reson that I am kind of worried about the slipping is that When scott (Massdiesel) did the trans last year I had just the blue chip box and was just thinking about injectors. I have since added a vanaaken timing box and DDII's, which I plan to further upgrade to supermentals this spring. Can the valve body be tweeked a little for more power or do I have to pay another visit to scott?
