On a Cummins E-brake by Jacobs; will there be an access port for post turbo EGT probe/T-couple as there are on other brands?
I have just bought Autometer gauges(thanks to all input on pictures post)and will also be installing an exhaust brake. I'm partial to the E-brake at this time. Thanks to all.

LORDSMAN,I have the cummins E-brake and it does not have a port in it,I too am dissipointed,I think one can be drilled and tapped into it,just be sure you stay far enough down stream so you dont effect the valves operation, Kevin

No they don't have a factory hole for a thermocouple. If you decide to put the thermocouple there,be sure not to drill on the casting seam. Some folks said the casting can split from drilling on the seam.

I e-mailed Jacobs about drilling the casting boss on the e-brake for a 1/8"NPT probe. They indicated that it was there for the purpose of installing a temperature probe. It will not void the warranty if properly done. Their e-mail address is Support/JacobsVECo. @JakeBrake

I removed my elbow to drill and tap it. I don't think the seam in a casting is a weak point. You can locate the hole anywhere that's convenient. I located mine just past the turbo outlet so it would be accessible. Like Kevin said, be sure it doesn't interfere with the flapper.

Thanks for the input. I think I'll still be installing the Jacobs E-bake. I'll find a way to go post turbo EGT. If any one has drilled out the housing for an EGT fitting let me know how it went. I will however be e-mailing them(jacobs) to get more info.

Lordsman-
Drilling the Jacobs E-Brake elbow is real easy. I didn't use the casting boss as my measurements were showing that the pyro would be extremely close to the butterfly valve and I didn't want to risk it touching (I used a VDO pyro which is 1/4" NPT). You can also make a practice run on the stock elbow after you remove it prior to taking on the E-Brake. Good luck,
