E-Brake shoes ,cleaned readjusted and still won`t hold truck.

The axle seal had allowed a bit of diff fluid to get shoes wet. Neighbor claims once that happens they will never hold. Ajuswted them to drag when putting rotor back on, had plenty of tightness on cable. Won`t hold. So do I need to just get another set of shoes,brake cleaner ,I guess won`t get them clean enougfh ?? DOT doesnt recognize the inline 12volt lockers:-laf

for e-brakes off road.

They will usually clean up enough to hold. Of course by the book they should be replaced

replaced the shoes today used brake cleaner,flapper to clean hubs. Seemed like hub was slick like polished when it was finished . Being a lathe man for 25 years I`m wondering if we should have had the damned hubs turned on a lathe because that truck from the factory would damned sure hold it with the e-brake or Dodge would be sued out of existance.

:-laf I would not have used a flapper wheel on anything that should have a uniform diameter

Your neighbors wrong - you can clean oil or grease from brake pads and get normal service out of them.
I know most novices won't believe this but those who do a lot of brake work know better.

Well on park brakes no big deal... ... ... ... . on service brakes sometimes. Depends on how deep they get saturated. Old timers will use heat after all the surface is clean to bring the oil to the surface.

the surface feels slick after the flapper . Maybe we shouldn`t have used flapper but it appeared to work well cleaningitup.
