Hi everyone.

I finally registered for the board after lurking for a year. I appreciate all the info I have gotten from this site ... THANKS!

I recently installed a Jacobs exhaust brake and am satisfied

with it's performance. When installed I decided to use the

NAPA two speed axle switch. Well I'm getting tired of hearing the

switch rattle. Is there another similar push-pull type switch

of better quality? Please let me know so I can turn my radio

back down or at least not have to fix it by wrapping rubber bands

around it and the shifter (it kind of cheapens my $30,000 ride).

I installed the shifter switch sold by BD. It is set in an aluminum housing which clamps to the shifter. The switch itself is made in America. There is some rattling but its not excessive. I do remember reading a similar post where a member had a rubber grommet installed to eliminate the rattle. My rubber band has broken so I may devise something using a grommet.

Mine rattles a bit, also. After you pull it up, there seems to be a bit of play in it... I just pull it all the way up or down to just before it goes off. This eliminates the rattle in mine for about a half hour or so, then I change its position til the next time.

Don't know if this helps much, but when I had mine installed, I used a fairly large rocker switch on the lower dash to the left of the steering column. It's lighted when it's turned on and can be reached easily with my long arms. No rattles or other problems.

I got my shifter switch from D. I. S. , been in for 3 months and no rattle yet. It had a big Canadian maple leaf sticker on it if that means anything.

I changed to the B-D switch and had no rattle for about a year, then it started. I use an O-ring instead of rubber bands on mine. It's black so it almost looks like it belongs there and there is zero, zero, zero rattle.

I drilled a 1/8"hole in the housing 90 deg. to the switch shaft, positioned so that the mounting bracket would cover the hole. Then cleaned out the hole with an endmill so that the hole is 1/8 " all the way to the shaft. Next I put a small amount of lube in the hole and installed a piece of 1/8" O ring material so that about . 015" stuck out of the hole. When the switch is put back in the mounting bracket the O ring material acts like a spring to hold the shaft from rattling in the housing.
