Looks like another few weeks of waiting!

Dear Robert:

Thanks for the email regarding the Cummins 600 engine in your Dodge Ram

2500.

More information on the engine will be available just after the first of

the year. We do know that the engine will have 600 ft. pounds of torque

and will produce 325 horsepower.

The vehicle will also meet emission requirements in all 50 states. it is

not yet known if the transmission will be approved for an exhaust brake,

but it is possible it will be.

We appreciate your interest.

"But it is possible it will be"

I think that means yes, but we just can't tell anyone yet!

I wonder if they are waiting so the dealers can sell the remeining stock of the Pre-600 engines? They obviously know all of the details and probably have for at least 18 months...

No smog for me... I have a 04 and can take the 20 less hp. . I think all the smog stuff will more than use up 20 hp or more. All my friends agree. Just my 3. 25 cents worth. Not to mention that the deals are on the 04's. Not on the 04. 5's. Mine was FULLY loaded with a sticker of $43k. I got it out the door for $33,600 plus the cost of the extended warranty. No sales tax in Oregon and 4 years of lic for $60. . Such a deal. . ;)

PBJohnson2,

How much money down on that thing. I am getting a new 04 next week with the Employee Purchase Plan and my price for the Laramie is 38K on a 45 Sticker prices, Works out to be 2K below invoice with the employee purchase control number. I am confused how you got a new truck with sticker of 43K for so little.

GREAT DEAL if you did not put any money down on it.

Don

I'm just curious as why the employee purchase plan is so expensiive. I just bought my 04 and bought it fo $2800 under invoice (it was $300 under minus the $2500 current rebate)

Nick

one dealer here in saint louis has the 600's on their lot i am going to go by there tomorrow and look for any "smog" equipment.

O. K.

I see now, you got it for $300 under invoice then, I will be getting it for the 38K which is 2K under invoice plus the 2500 rebate and hopefully the 500 holiday cash if truck shows up today as scheduled. Will get it for 35,000 minus the down payment I have. Thanks for clearing it up. Sounds like most dealers will sell for invoice and the good ones will go up to 500 under invoice to keep us TDR returning customers happy.

My next new truck will be in 2013 based on my current finances. I wonder what Cummins will offer then? Should be the Cummins 1000 ISB,

Don

:D :D

You can go to Idaho any day of the week and get the same deal as I did at Dave Smith Motors. I had to work the dealer for about 3 hours. Then I walked across to the bank and got a check for the full amount. The dealer still sucked, and Ive had a few 5 star problems with them and their lousy attitude but, I got the truck for what I would have had to pay in Idaho, without the drive. Not to mention, just try to get any service from your local dealer when he knows you bought from another state. No way, no chance, 5 star or not. Also, I feel that the 5 star rating is BS. :-{} :-{} :-{} :-{} :-{}

This is funny, when I bought my truck my salesman told me about the questionnaire I would receive. He wanted to "ensure" that he got all high marks and he wanted me to ensure that's what I would put. I told him I had't drove the truck off the lot yet and I had no idea what the questionnaire would ask... . so how could I even guess as to what I would put? He reiterated the importance of receiving all high marks... . and called me 3 times to see if I had received the questionnaire (he said he called to see how I liked the truck but always asked about the Q).

Funny thing, since filling it out he has only called me once... ... to ask if any of my friends were looking for trucks.

p. s. my father-in-law bought one from him too 2 weeks later and he never called to thank me for that..... interesting how these 5 stars work.

I didn't buy trucks from either of the two dealers I've taken my truck to for warranty work, they didn't care and didn't ask where I bought it from.

When I tried to get a quote from my local dealer on an '04. 5, they told me that their allotment was sold till the March build. I told them "thank you very much, I can't wait that long", and ordered from Broadway Dodge in Denver where I bought my last two trucks. Ship date is Jan 8. If the local dealer gives me any crap about not buying from them, I'll explain the situation. The local dealer also doens't stock any 3500 SRW trucks, so I couldn't buy off the lot either.
