When I was a kid, we bought the outdated bread at the bakery outlet store and had to freeze it(hated that). Powdered milk, veggie soups, cheese, and peanut butter/butter sandwiches. Fresh milk direct from farm and made our own butter. Direct from farm butchering, usually get 1/4 at a time, when we could. Butchered our own chickens. Always had a garden and would can/freeze for off season.

MWilson, one night at WallyWorld, there must have been a who-can-look-the-worst contest. Never seen so many pj's, so much cellulite, so many tats, so much hair that needed an oil change 2000 miles ago, etc. Then I ran into an attractive, tastefully dressed, untatted, LADY and thanked her for decorating Walmart. Her eyes welled up and she nearly cried. I wondered how long it had been since someone had paid her a complement. The power of words!! On a motorcycle trip years ago, I stopped by a lady for a few traffic lights. I blurted out, "you would be pretty if you smiled", and the change was one of those things I won't ever forget. She lit up like a Christmas tree and was still beaming when she turned in 3-4 blocks. This not a joke, so excuse me for hijacking!! LOL
