In my wood shop I keep at least 4 good tape measures that I use at different locations in the shop.
And that said, I can only RARELY find even one of them!!!

I have seriously discussed with a techie friend of mine about designing a drone that can carry a standard 25' tape measure over just above me and to my right all day long.

The only sticking point is that of course it also needs to be strong enough and smart enough to fetch and then carry a cold beer for me at the END of the day!!!
