I had one van where you used to have to go from 1st towards reverse gear (not into reverse - just partway up), then back to neutral before going to 2nd - else it would jamb.

Hey I resembled that remark!

Had a 65 Econoline FORWARD CONTROL pick up it was fugly but utilitarian beyond belief.

The rods were who knows 6’ long and if you did a lazy slider shift rather than forward down forward it would lock up.

Dog house floor vent hand choke and other odd ball features. You could leave the keys in it these days kids couldn’t steal it.
