My first day as an Apprentice Carpenter I was told to go to the lockup and get a "Board Stretcher".

When having a "GI party" in the avionics shop, never pass up the opportunity to initiate the "fresh", eager-beaver avionics troop by sending them to the propulsion shop for a gallon of prop wash. Best cleaner there ever was. While they're at it, have them stop by OMS (Organizational Maintenance Squadron) for 13 yards of flight line, and the electric shop for a vortex generator in case the power goes out.

It's a classic in my industry too. Pipe, stretcher, beam stretcher, etc.
Or the ever infamous sky hook.
My all time favorite is telling them to go get a bucket of steam. You wouldn't believe the number of (mostly) kids that will stick the end of a steam hose in a bucket and open the valve The "smarter" ones will try and cover the top with a lid or a board.
That one NEVER gets old!
