Found a dealer with a very early (Built 08-05) 06 mega cab 4x4. It is loaded with everything but leather. Were these the ones folks were having A/C troubles with??? How are the sunroofs holding up? The Rear Seat entertainment?? Truck has metal intercooler tanks (most 05's were plastic). Windows for 48,700. Salesman said 38,000 even +TT&L. Thinking of offering 38,000 out the door.

Your thoughts... ...

P. S. drove for several miles on highway at 68 to 80 mph, no hint of DW.

I have an early November '05 Mega Cab. The sunroof has been perfect so far. No sign ever of DW. Absolutely zero problems. I highly recommend the truck. The only thing it has been back to the dealer for are recalls and services. The AC may be a little weak, but I have never noticed it as bad as many have complained about. Maybe I got lucky there.

Weak A/C is inherent with Mega Cabs, I've been in early ones and early and current '07 trucks. Basically DC uses the same unit as in Reg Cabs, Quads etc. . but then adds an extension duct, under the center armrest assy that feeds to the rear seat. The Cab is so big it frankly take a while for a relatively underpowered HAVC unit to cool it.

Mine was built in Oct of 05. So I have had it just over a year now and the sunroof is as tight as the day I drove it off the lot. It has only been in for a few recalls, hard start, tank vent, trailer plug voltage. A/C is weak when it get in the mid 90's, below that it is fine. 07's are not to different, new headlights and tail lights.

I love my Mega Cab, and have no issues with the A/C. It is not as cold as other vehicles I have had, but is is cold enough. HVAC engineers like to err on the conservative side. Refrigerant evaporator coils are also dehumidifiers. A slightly undersized unit does a better job of delivering a steady flow of cool dehumidified air, the real measure of comfort, because the compressor does not cycle on and off as often.

Thanks Guys. Living in the ultra humidity zone of the Upper Texas coast just has me a little concerned. Upper 90's to low 100's at 80 to 95% relative humidity can get a little uncomfortable, but hey, what are power windows for?????? I guess leaving the blower on High most of the time can be tolerated.

This truck (I have been told) is one of a group built to showcase the new mega cab. It has EVERY option except leather, is the blood red color (not the cranberry red), and you could search on Dodge.com and every five star dealer in Texas seemed to have 2 to 6 in stock in late 05. They were all equipped exactly alike (sunroof, rear dvd, infinity sound, 6 disc, auto trans etc. ) How this one has gone un-bought (is that a word) i'm not sure. It is one of the "Red Dot" trucks that gets the extra $1000 off for a total of $5000 off.

Thanks for the info guys, keep it coming.

My QC came from the dealer approx: 3/4 lb low on freon in the A/C system. I added the coolant myself and made it MUCH cooler. 40 degrees at the vents.

Also, there was a post on here or elsewhere about adding an extension hose on the A/C drain on the firewall/passenger side under the hood. I put an old piece of heater hose on the outlet tube. It extends the drain to vertical and prevents the wind from backing up the drain and causing freeze up. (45 degree elbow heater hose 3/4 in I think)

I have a 2006 Mega cab built Nov 05. The only problem I have is the dome light quit working @ 8,000 miles. Also the feature of turning on all dome light while inside the cab quit working using the roller switch at the driver side. I also took it back to the dealer for the parking brake indicator light on the instrument panel is not lit when I engage the parking brake. I have to make an appointment from the dealership to get the dome light issue fix.

The A/C works flawlessly on mine. I also average 16 miles per gallon.
