This Quote from someone in Indiana? have many quakes there?

I grew up in Los Angeles, County from 1977-1980 then again from 1983-1997.

During that period we had several large earthquakes...

Including the Whittier quake which was about 6. 5 and the Northridge quake which was around 7. 3 if I remember right.

The Whittier quake was much closer so it felt alot worse.

The Hawaii quake is only getting alot of press because of the recent Tsunami disaster...

I am not trying to be insensitive... . I just grew up with earthquakes and began to enjoy or be thrilled when they happend in my teenage years.

On another note... .

We did have a quake here in Indiana that I actually felt about 2 years back. It only registered like 3. 1 and it was epicentered about an hour from where I live.

I actually felt the quake while lying down on the couch at home. I mistook it for artillery rumbles from the local Army base which is only 10 miles away (Camp Atterbury).

I only realized it was a quake when I seen the news report a couple hours later.

I will be there in ten days.

Planning to fly. Never tried to drive it. I was told there are no service stations with diesel fuel on the ocean. !!!!

We have friends there who say the sound was scary. They are on Maui. We were also told that ALL the islands were effected.

Many pictures were knocked off of the walls on Maui. Some rock slides too.

Watch the last half of this video link... maybe you can get there this way

I was just razzing you... You know how mid west people always say they dont want to move to California cause we have earthquakes... So I mistakenly thought this was one of those mid westerner replies, you know we have to keep all you thinking we have alot of quakes so more people dont move here
