The other day I noticed a little spot underneath the front of the truck. I popped the hood and looked around. It seems that it's leaking coolant out from the radiator cap. There is some coolant puddled in the recesses of the air box. It's not over filled, it never gets over half way on the water temp gauge, and the cap is on correctly.

So, why is the radiator cap leaking coolant ??

P. S. Truck has 49000 miles and is on original coolant.

TIA

i have noticed the same thing on mine but found it to be from the over flow hose connected to the side of it. i haven't done anything about it yet but i will put a hose clamp on it one day.

I'll bet that it is the overflow hose that comes out just below your radiator cap. That is what caused the mess on my 04. The hose gets hard after a while and loses some of it's resiliancy ( spelling?) Either cut off 1/2 inch , and shove it back on or replace it , and I think your problem will be solved.

Thanks !

I was hoping it was something simple.

I was just thinking as I read these responses, that it didn't start doing it until about a week and a half ago. It started getting pretty cold about a week and a half ago, so it could be that the hose has gotten really hard.

I'll play around with the hose, and if that doesn't work, I'll buy a new radiator cap.

Mine always leaks a little after I exchange the X-intake for the factory box. I change every now and then for ****s and giggles. Anyway, I always bump the overflow hose and forget to make sure it's reseated. They really should put a clamp on it.
