high temp black paint that is not flat?

Just thought you guys should know whats going on, since this guy deals parts, I have this discussion posted on NWBombers.

These are actual emails of our conversation today about a grill I purchased, item # and email addresses included for those of you that want to view the add. Read the starting of this from bottom to top I will make more sence.

Any one need a grill? its not in very good shape, it might be ok if yours is really broken or missing, but for my truck its NO GOOD. I included my conversation with the seller below. I have pics if you want to see it.

(read from bottom to top it will make more sence)

40+22 Im into it for 62 ya 40 isnt a bad price but your description is less than accruate, excelent means no cracks, (aftter cleaning it up noticed crack on bottom center), bubbled crome, deep scratches, and didnt come off of a wrecked front end which hit something green( judging from the green paint still on it). Buying it to run it up? I can get new aftermarket for 40-50 plus 20-25 for the emblum from dealer so over all 60-70 for some thing that looks like new. I couldnt in good concience sell this for more than 20 bucks(with accruate descripton). As far as sending it back, lets do some math, 40+22=62 (out of my pocket so far) + 15 (actuall shipping) +say 5 to package it it up = 82. 82 - 40( you send me if I can trust you) I am out total of 42. As it is I am out 62 but have another junk grill. 20 bucks is worth it to me for you not to be able to seel this to some other unsuspecting person.

"NO damage"

this is his idea of excelent condition, this is bare plastic, its not that $40 is all that unfair for this but what chaps me is that fact that he is so adement there is no damage and it is in good condition.

(can some one tell me how to resize pictures to post here)

The part that really chaps me is he is adiment there is no damage! $40 for this grill probably isnt unfair but the attitude is what I cant deal with, this is bare plastic

His offer to take it back is noble but the attitude I got before the offer is what really iritates me, I really wish I could post a pictrure here of the actual grill. Please feel free to show him your 97 grill I wont mind at all!

Thats the risks ebay has.

I have always got into discussins defining what EXCELLENT CONDITION means with cars and parts.

I always ask about rear bumpers having dents, to see if they are stupid enough to back into the trailer. Every time I have asked that question, they say no dents. Every time I look, there are dents. Go figure.

E-bay has pretty strict policies about returning stuff, and inaccurate desriptions.

Well I got another email this moroning asking what we are going to do to resolve the issue (doesnt want an up set customer). Its funny how attiudes can change over night, I dont know if I have any of you to thank or not but if I do thank you! Its great to have groups like this to back you up, now the question is do I report it to ebay? (He is trying to do the right thing "now"). I guess I will wait and see how things go from here.

I think the seller needs a 'wakeup call' (400 positive? feedbacks notwithstanding) so I'd say forget about making 'nice' & report him & just take it as a lesson learned. You'd be doing other eBayers a favor.

I can understand someone who just sells occasionally not being able to take a critical look at what they're selling but someone with over 400+ feedbacks? I think not!!!

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I am leaning in that direction, any one else have any thoughts on this ? I will wait for my money to get back into my account first though. I am not a huge Ebayer I now leaving feed back you can only leave a very short sentence, does ebay have a place to describe the problem a little more indepth?

I think the seller will probably expect a positive or at least no feedback if a refund is made so they'll be pretty PO'ed if you give negative feedback.

As for providing more info in feedback, nope, but you can provide an email addy that will be current into the near future & ask to be contacted at that addy for more background.

So if I can fit my email address in there they will let me?... ... Cool! I will make sure to save his email resopnces to be to send to those who want them.

If you look at the feed back it is almost always B S "AAAAA *** awesome product" bla bla bla. I think the feed back idea is good but most people don't give important info about the transaction. I once bought an ECM the seller said "new" and when I got it the ecm had a rx at the end of the part # and that means REBUILT/reman I let him know this in case he didn't know and insisted that it was new. Not a big deal in my case but still.

Craig

I try to make a point of writing something constructive in the limited space avlbl.

Did so when I recvd something that had been slightly damaged due to veeeeery poor pkg'ing. Gave the seller a positive rating but noted the shoddy pkg'ing. Seller didn't much like it & replied with some mumbo-jumbo-postal-service-conspiracy-theory. Yeah right!!! I've been doing mail-order since I was 12ish (I'm now in my 40's) & have never ever had a problem with anything shipped via the postal svc. I guess there's always a 1st time but the seller's reply struck me as being from one of those types who can do no wrong & with a serious of De Nile!

Will probably read someting like this:

Refnded OK,Bad Attitude/language get details -- email address removed --

comments?

yes... . that looks good... i am on ebay quite a bit and when you are dealing with parts and ESPECIALLY vehicles most places are dealers... and they will say just about anything as far as condition to get you to buy and to travel there to get it, then once there you may see a few more dents/dings/scratches and dont like it but you are still so far away that to turn the vehicle down would mean you would be eating the travel expenses which can become costly... .

and yes this did happen to me recently, not on eBay, but from an internet car dealership, and believe me, i am not happy and at the very least the BBB is going to be contacted as well as the State Dept. (whoever deals with this type of thing)

I wouldn't put my email addy out in the public, good way to get spam bombed.

I do quite a bit of buying/selling on ebay, have all positive feedback. I've had some less than stellar expereinces, but remember that if you leave negative feedback you're probably going to get it in return. It also shows up in your "feedback left" history.

If the guy gives you your money back, then that's about all you can ask out of him. I would have to get totally screwed to leave negative feedback, it just opens up a new can of worms. My recommendation is that if you get your money back, then be happy and if you have a problem with leaving positive feedback, then don't leave any.

Example: I sold a Gil Hibben collectible knife to a guy, my ad said "this knife is not mint, there are scratches on teh handle. " He bought it got it and he didn't like the knife because there wre scratches on the handle. I could have technically told him to go pound sand, but we negotiated that since I didn't misrepresent the knife, I would accept the return if he paid for the shipping back and my listing fees, and $20 for my hassle.

But to summarize, I personally would not leave negative feedback becuase the guy was a jerk. As long as I got my money back, then I would probably not leave any feedback at that point.

Worth $0. 02... ... ... ..... ;)

I think I will still leave negitive feed back, but explain in detail why, its not because he didnt give me my money back, more along the lines of not properly describing what he is selling, and his attitude, as far as how to give the general public more info, I am going to set up another account and use its free web page to post our email conversation (which most of it is posted here), that way I can cancel it later and I dont tie up my email box with a bunch of junk and also I can post pictrues of the grill, to me feed back should not only be used for the product you bought, it should reflect you total buying experience, in hopes he becomes a little more honest about what he is selling, and learns to control his attitude a little more. If he wants to mess with my feed back, then so be it, I can live with it.

A few thoughts on E-bay,

I have been a E bay seller and buyer for over five years.

With a perfect 100% feedback history. I allways pack items as if I were sending them to myself. I often look for used boxes to use for shipping. I even go to the local copy store dumpster in search of free packing peanuts.

I also try to list / discribe items in worse shape than they are. I have bought engine parts from members who charge high amounts for shipping and handling then package them so poorly that all of the items in one box arrive reuined.

The sad thing is, if its a very hard to find item. That you paid good money for it. Then you open the box to find out that it is in a lot worse shape then discribed. Even before the damage from the shipping. Think about it, in a world full of items (sold as is) like a twenty five cent yard sale item.

Well the good thing is your seller didn't drop out of E-bay and just start up under a new name. Or worse yet just keep your cash and hide.

God Bless,

Earl

Notice how eBay is now loaded with illegal DVD's that were burned from copyrighted material.

There must be thousands. These sellers are nuts. Yikes!

There are about 20 sellers w/ homemade DVD copies of the '04 SuperBowl. :D
