Anybody have any experience with or knowledge of either of these products available from www.tirerack.com?

or

The rotors are $150 a pair, and the brake lines are $88 for the front and rear.

Both have to be special ordered, but sounds like a good price for grooved rotors and stainless braided brake lines.

Thanks for any replies. .

Drilled rotors

I just put on a set of drilled rotors on my wife's '02 mitsubishi galant for about $90 ea. to replace the stock rotors that warped almost immediately. This thing stops good now! Just be careful to get the right pads that go with drilled rotors (because they run cooler). The Stainless lines are the next upgrade and you should be happy with them at that price. Gordon

Well I guess I will have to be the guinea pig. I ordered the brake lines last Friday. I will see if they are a quality product or not. They are less than half the cost of the other braided hoses that are available. I may try the EBC pads and rotors when I'm ready to do my fronts. I have EBC Greenstuff pads on my Nissan Sentra SER, and have no complaints.

almost a year since I ordered....

I ordered the Goodrich SS brake line kit from Summit racing on 8-5-02. They said it was a special order. Goodridge p/n 15024. I just checked and the tentative arrival date is 7-25-03. I hope they are worth the wait.

I just bought the EGR rear drum package. It was quite pricey. With the exception of the shoes, all of the other hardware looks like standard over the counter parts I could have gotten down at the local parts store. EBC has been around for a while. I would think that their products are of good quality. They are also considerably less expensive.

btw Raybestos is also selling slotted rotors now under their "Brute Stop" line. I haven't priced them yet tho.

I emailed the sales rep at Tirerack.com and he confirmed that the brake lines are not available yet. :( I guess I will wait a couple months and see what happens

I am not knocking EGR...

willyslover,

I had EGR's SS brakelines in my hands last summer. They looked very high quality. Problem ( at least in my case) was they are not a direct bolt-on. When you mount the line on the frame where the OEM one was, you are missing the hard line connection by 2". In other words you will need to do some fabrication. Like loosening the OEM hard line, pulling it out and re-bending it to line up. I just didn't have the incentive to dive into it.

I emailed the sales rep again and found out that the EBC rotors and pads are not yet available for the #8800 gvw trucks:mad: .

I really wish they wouldn't list things on their site that are not available.

I installed my EGR rear brake upgrade and re-lubed the caliper pins. The truck stops straight and true now. I still have a lot of life left on the Performance Friction pads on the front, so I guess I will wait a while before I do any upgrading on the front. Maybe there will be more options in a few months.

I didn't post on this thread until I was sure it would work out. I have the EBC rotors for my 94 8800# truck. Wanted to compare to stock for size and thickness. Did that today. They are the same size. I haven't installed yet, was just getting all the parts lined up.

Edit:

After some use with EBC products, I would stay away from them.

The rotors are decent, but I also purchased pads.

The pads cracked, crumbled, and squeeled bad within 500 miles.

They were still under warranty, but EBC said this was normal.

Yea, Right!!!!!

I removed them and refuse to use them.

Brakes-R-Us has lousy customer service.

Avoid them at all cost$.

Do you happen to know if they make the same rotors to fit the rear of the newer trucks? I would deffinatelly be interested if I could get them for both ends. Thanks Seth

FWIW - I called over to Brakes R Us today and Justin no longer works for them.

I was quoted $198 for the pair of rotors (4x4, 2500)

a bit of education required here....

Those rotors look great,

But, why do the only drill a "dimple" in the rotor instead of drilling all the way through?

Because when you drill all the way through, you weaken the rotor and make it prone to cracking.
