Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) ECM advice (mine died, need a replacement)

I have a post in the 911 forum for those interested in the gory details. The short version is my ECM died and I have 108k miles on the clock so I'm SOL on the Cummins warranty.



I'm running a borrowed spare ECM at the moment but I need to source a replacement. These are supposedly nearly bulletproof ECM's, so is it wise to source one from a boneyard or should I fork over the cash for new from Cummins? What's the common experience with warranty, is Cummins "flexible" enough to overlook the 8k miles? It's the weekend so I can't check current prices, but some previous searches indicated it's in the $800 range? Ouch. I'm open to suggestions.

I emailed a guy, waiting on a reply. He told me just last week that he had a few for 01 trucks, one was a Mad ecm. I'll let you know.

I have a stock ECM for a 99 4x4 manual. Two problems you need to answer for me, 1) Is your truck a manual, 2)Can you handle a 10-15 horse decrease in power. Other than that, the ecm should work.

Read your warranty book carefully... . Chrysler will refuse because you are over 100,000 but I believe you will find the 100,000 starts where the 3 /36 ends. I suspect if you pay the dealer for the repair and then take it up with Chrysler corperate, they will reimburse you. Search for other posts on here concerning warranty issues.

I have 2 ecm. . 1 is 2001 HO 6sp. . and a 2001 STD 5sp. .

My ecm also just died on me. I have a source for a new one but it is for ca emmisions. Mine is not a ca truck. Will it work.
