Hi forum. I'm trying to install a relay with switch on ECM for security purposes. Looking at the attached wiring diagram View attachment 8W-30-55.pdf from manual I would think that breaking pin #32 labeled "FUSED IGNITION SWITCH OUTPUT (RUN-START)" on C2 connector of ECM should stop motor ? I tried this by pulling fuse #50 as indicated by diagram, but motor still started. So I'm guessing that this circuit "F202" goes through a different fuse. Anybody know what fuse this circuit uses ?

Hi sag2, thanks. I've now filled in my truck profile so it should be appearing in the footer, but in case not:

04 ( manufactured 11/03 ) 2500, 305/555 CTD, NV5600, 4X4, 3.73, Open Differential

Fuse 20 (25A) would seem to be the only fuse protecting circuit F202 that energizes the ECM at pin 32 of C2 connector. I removed the C2 connector and tested continuity from positive screw terminal on side of IPM to socket at position 32 in C2 connector while removing fuses :). As best I can determine, PTC NO. 1 protects the A/C compressor clutch relay and is internal to the IPM ? Thanks for replaying sag2.

I'm installing a tracking computer with relay control. By utilizing the ECM I have ability to turn off the vehicle remotely.

I would be very careful having the ability to shut it off remotely. Even if the bad guy steals it, should you shut it off while driving and someone gets hurt as a result you will be held liable. Not restarting is a far better option. You can also use the T41 (neutral safety switch) circuit so it will not start. Use the relay to open the circuit. Once running it will keep running, but once shut off it will not restart.

You are treading into areas that even law enforcement does not approach lightly. Just outright killing a running vehicle can result in so much collateral damage nobody is safe.

Much better to simply not allow a start unless you want it to.
