Any one know what I can do to make my truck run like it should? here is the problem, I built back a fire damaged automatic (11/99) early 2000 ctd dually, I had to replace the ecm (engine computer) and found the same part #s computer in a local salvage yard but it came off a std shift truck , I have been driving my truck for the past 9 k miles but someone not used to driving it would have problems, I can drive it but I want it right!

1. when you turn key it will start in any selection of gears! so I put in new netural safty switch too (didnt cure problem) and the check engine light still reads pnp switch failure? no other codes though and I have cleared that code and it comes and goes.

2. I had to take starter relay off and jumper wire the relay because the starter would only click and not turn over? the starter checked out ok and I also replaced the contacts while into it !

3. the lift pump will not operate until I bump starter over and then it runs the 45 sec to minute as normal.

4. I have to kind of crank longer to make it start while holding acc pedal down some to make it start up, the grid heater is working too!

5 . when you first start it up (especially cold weather)you have to keep it reved up some or it sounds like a top fuel dragster with a large camshaft (heavy idle lope)

6. when I drive it down the road everything seems fine and has lots of power but when you come to a fast stop or let off the acc pedel normal like at a stop light or stop sign engine will die! unless you keep foot onto pedal and hold brake at the same time!

7 it has a heavy idle lope like a dragster again in reverse backing up !

8 . truck gets 20. 1 mpg, has great power,and its a 410 ratio 2wd.

9. dealer told me that they could not reprogram the ecm computer and that I would have to get a new computer thats for a auto truck? all the #s on the computer matched? does anyone know what I need to do? any one got a ecm for a early 2k auto truck? hope someone can help?

E-mail me at -- email address removed -- if you would like a Marcos ecm.

I remember you saying that you were getting some more computers to ship in the next few weeks to marco but didnt know the exact date you were sending them out, so I never heard back from you and then I either lost your tel# or your email address got deleted or burried in my emails? I run a European Salvage yard and have Lots of contacts and emails! so what was the price? how long is the wait to get it reprogramed? I use the truck daily so thats why im having to drive it like it is! thanks for the reply!

have your ecm reflashed at a cummins shop. Hard part is figuring out which program to use. There are lots of different programs without descriptions. I had to have 4 different programs tried before I found one that worked, except I was opposite of you. I went from an auto program to a 5 speed.

Shouldn't they be able to get the correct factory load with the VIN#? It's not like you're trying to modify any of the parameters, are you? Either that or the CaTCHER ECM to make changes...
