ECM for 93

I have a question. is the ECM the same for a 93 5speed and a 93 automatic?

I have a 93 5 spd the alternator doesn't work on. I suspect its the ECM.

so I was wondering if a 93 auto ECM would be the same. thank you

They would have been different part numbers originally. The automatic one should work for the manual, but not the other way.

the check engine light stays on all the time I guess because the alternator doesn't work. I wonder if I put an auto ECM in to make the alt. work,will the check engine light stay on because the auto wire isn't plugged in to anything? just got to worrying about that. thanks again

The ECM off the '93 controls the alternator charging. I take it you've got the project truck running. Looking forward to seeing you in May in Meridian.

You can use an external regulator instead of replacing the ECM.

yes sir Bob and kog I've got it running but my goal now is to turn off that pesky check engine light and make the alternator charge. when I bought the 93 the check engine light was on all the time. someone had an external regulator on it. but I would like to make it work the way it's supposed to if possible.
