My brothers 98. 5 CTD 5 speed truck broke down on Saturday while driving to my home. He is getting a code P0230... Transfer pump [lift pump] curcuit out of range. The truck has a Holley blue pump using the LP harness as a triggered relay. I tried disconnecting the harness altogether & no changes. I need a ECM for this truck soon & hoping to find one local if possible for a quick install.

I installed the ecm out of my 99 into my brothers truck today & that was the problem... . it is running great. My truck is sitting in the driveway with no brain.

Did you try verifying that it was actually an ECM failure, and not just a bad connector or connection? Sometimes a bit of corrosion develops in the connector, and operation is restored when it is unplugged and then re-connected - I'd sure want to verify it actually IS an ECM failure, not simply a bad connection... ;)

I tested voltage coming from the LP harness at the ecm. My brother hit the go pedal & voltage dropped to 5v at any throttle position. I unplugged the ecm connector & cleaned it, lubed it, reinstalled it & nothing changed. I checked all grounds & checked out well. When the voltage would drop to 5v... the "wait to start" light would flash. I disabled the turbo timer taking everything back to stock making sure that this wasn't just a ignition switch problem cutting out power & nothing changed. I did this because my brother said he went to turn his truck off one day at Walmart & it didn't shut off, but he turned the key forward & it shut off. He also had code po253 show up any time temps would get below 40*f. All leads me to ecm.

I was gonna have it repaired if I could find a electronics shop that knows how, any ideas?

You might check with Bob Wagner... . I know Marco has repaired a few ECM problems. The ECM has to go on vacation to Italy, but it will come back happy.
