have a truck in my shop thought it was just a lift pump. replaced it and now have these codes. PO253, PO251, PO252, P1688. What do you think is it the ECM or the board inside the VP???
Looks like the VP is fubard. A classic symptom of the ECM failure is the CEL light, there is also a code for a failed ECM (you would think I could remember that one).
I woud definately check/clean the LP, ECM, VP connections first.
make for sure yor engine contoller connections and all the trucks grounds are good, if they are you need to look at the connection at the pump module, i have seen this connection come loose on several trucks, mostly if it has been taken off before, possibly not fully seating .
thanks for the replys. talked to proturbo99 on the phone and he told me how to test for the ecm, it was good putting in a new VP in the morning. told the customer how much for the pump when he got off the floor i offered to buy the truck :-laf :-laf he went with the pump.
