ECM problems,,

I have been trying to get my 3500 megacab to run right for a few months now,,first i was getting a code on cyl #1 misfire,,,then slow fan speed,,,then some kind of ECM corrupt code,,went to my local dodge dealer where my cousin works to try and get the latest updates and reflash,,since i bought the truck used 2 years ago,,i wanted to start fresh,,BUT the tech informed me that he couldnt reflash or update because the truck didnt recocgnize the ECM,,,which is original to the truck i beleive,,,does anybody have any idea where to go from here,,,BEFORE i tear into this and install a good old 12 valve engine in there and finally have a good reliable truck..

So this isn't your 1996, I'm assuming a 2006+ truck? Were they able to talk to the ECM, or there was no flash available?

this is my 2007 3500 Megacab dually 4 x 4,,with a 5.9,,the tech said he could not reflash because the computer did not recognize the trucks ECM,,,and it was an hour before closing and didnt want to start getting into it and then have the truck be dead and stuck on their hoist,,,not sure i trust them too much now,,there is just no real good truck place around here,,

Do they do much diesel work? Sometimes wi-Tech has a problem, and sometimes they need to go wired to the truck and not wireless. When you get it back in have them run a scan and configuration report before they do anything else. They can save a PDF of the reports and give it to you if you have a jump drive with you. Those two reports will give them enough information to see why it will not recognize the ECM.

could be the tech or maybe the scan link,was trying to do regen on an ISL last nite kept getting an ecm error on the computer,switched to another computer and everything was ok,both were connected to cummins insite.
