Today I asked the service guy at the local Dodge dealership if there had been programming updates for my truck's ECM. They appeared puzzled by the question. The truck is a 2006 3500 diesel 48re. When I came back to pick up the truck a different service guy said there were no programming updates. From reading this website as well as others I got the impression that ECM programming updates happened regularly. How can I confirm whether or not there are flash updates from Dodge for my truck? Are there ECM programming geared for trucks towing 15000# plus?

You need to report a problem with your truck for them to check for any updated software. If there is a tsb that addresses that particular issue you will get the flash update. D/C won't perform updates for the asking ;) .

Here is what I would recomend.

What is the build date of the truck?

Has it ever had ECM updates done? (should be a sticker somewhere under hood if there has been ECM updates done)

Now look through the TSB's and figure out what has come put since your last ECM program. Using that TSB, go to the dealer and say you have the symptom listed in the TSB, (it helps to hand them a copy, but remove the URL off the bottom of the website you pulled it from). They will be happy because you diagnosed the problem for them, all they have to do is follow the TSB. you will be happy because you got your reprogram.
