I am new here and hope I am doing this right. Anyway, I have a '05 2500 diesel 4X4 with a manual transmission. I have read about the high idle program and modification for my truck. Seems like I also remember seeing something about a program that will leave your radio on after you take the key out. Can't find it on here. Is there a list of programming modification options that can be done? I am also looking at buying a smarty and I was wondering if the options could be changed with it?

The high idle program is already on the ECM, you just have to get the dealer to hook up their DRB and turn it on. If they give you grief, it's in the owner's manual. You can show them that. Can't help you with the radio thing but I'd be interested in that. Smarty can read diagnostic codes and changes tires size. I'm not aware of it being able to do other non-power related changes.

I think of the manual transmission trucks there is a hard wire jumper necessary for the manual high idle feature to work.

Not sure but I do believe that there is an option to leave Accessories on after key off until the driver door is opened. Thought I saw where the new Bully Dog Triple Dog could enable that option, otherwise the dealer should be able to.

I think on the manual trans trucks you need to have it enabled either with a BD Triple dog, Smarty, or by the dealer then ground the PTO pin on the ECM. I think it's pin #22. I haven't done this but this is based on what I've read.

I know about the ground wire trick for the manual trasmission. I was thinking that if I have to go to the dealer and have them flash the ECM, and if I have to pay for it, I might as well ask for every option I can get for my money.

By the way here are two great write ups about the manual trans rewire kit.

High Idle

Hope it helps. Ordered my ECM pin kit today from a Kentworth dealer. I'll let you know if it works. Oo.

Well got my part in today at the Kenworth dealer and installed it on my truck. Eleven dollars for a 5" piece of wire is ridiculous. #@$%! Called around yesterday and one dealer wanted $70 to turn on the high idle. I did find one that will do it for $40. No luck finding one to do it for free. Have a appointment Monday morning to have my high idle turned on. While I am there I am going to try and get them to turn on the fog/headlight option and the power/acc. option too.
