ECM recall flash, CA DMV, Smarty Jr...

Have a 2003 SO 5. 9. Runs fine, but the DMV says I need to take it to the dealer to get an ECM flash for a recall.



I suspect that the Smarty Jr installed last year already took care of this, but is there anything else I need to address? Will I need to adjust the Smarty Jr after the dealer ECM flash? My inclination would be to totally ignore this, but I need confirmation of the recall being done before the DMV will allow registration...



I'm not sure why this hasn't come up before, after all I had it smogged (visually) last year.

Your going to have to put it back to stock and then have the new sw loaded. They're probably looking for a sticker under the hood.

As above. You need to put your truck back to the stock settings with your Smarty otherwise your Smarty will be vin locked and won't work after without sending it away to get unlocked. After the reflash, download the latest update from the Smarty web page and reinstall. All will be good after that.

Cool, thanks for the heads up. I had it put in with some other work last year and haven't touched it. (It's currently on the lowest setting. ) But I'll put everything back to stock and head to the dealer tomorrow. What a pita. The whole reason I bought a diesel was to never have to worry about smogging it in CA. Go figure...
