ECM uprate from TST and the powermax?

I know I read somewhere that someone with the old ECM rewrite added a PowermaxI and I am wondering if it is a big difference or if the Powermax by-passes that ECM program.

Does combining the two give more power? Smoke? mileage?

When speaking to Mark it seems that the Powermax will add to what ever the ECM software sends. The stronger the ecm code the more power with the powermax.
