Greetings all, I had trouble with what I thought was ECM and/or TPS couple years ago, long story short my mechanic never could get it to throw a code or show a fault while he had it. We went through all connections/grounds but could never find a problem. Three weeks ago the code for the TPS circuit B came back and will not consistently clear even with replacing the TPS. Long story short again we are sure we are looking at ECM problems and I am looking for recommendations of best place to purchase an ECM, looks like everything out there will be a rebuilt. Plan on driving this truck many more years and not looking for a cheap way out, any recommendations/thoughts very much appreciated. Thank you!

It would be helpful to those who might be able to help if you posted the full information about your truck such as year, transmission, 4x4 or 2x4.

My apologies, haven't posted in probably year and a half and now see that my profile is gone. Truck is 04.5 quad cab 4wd dualy six speed. i will get that info loaded back in for future posts.

Check connectors and wiring for problems first. Wiggle test the harness. ECM dead last. Maybe even take yours apart and re-solder the connections related to that on the mainboard. What is the core value before you do that...

A Scanner displaying what the ECM is seeing would help track it down. Lots of times an ECM replacement doesn't help esp. if a pin is backing out of a connector or corroded.

FWIW - years ago is different than today. Start troubleshooting over and nothing gets a free pass.

Have physically been through entire truck plugging and unplugging every component and verifying every ground. Scanner computer confirms there are no corrupt signals. I and and my mechanic are firm that ECM is bad, if anyone has good info on reliable/stand behind their product supplier for an ECM please let me know. Not looking for a cheap way out.

I had a similar issue with my truck a couple of years ago where the tps icon came on and would shut throttle down, I replaced tps with a new unit and went on a trip with trailer and 2,000 miles later had same issue and had tps replaced and then shortly later it acted up again. A dealer in Michigan overplayed a new harness from the ECM to the pedal assembly and I have not had any more problems. The mechanic said when he checked their trouble shooting site this was the repair that had been found to correct the problem

Thanks for replies, as stated we have physically been through truck one end to the other checking grounds and systems/components looking for bad or erratic signal from some other component causing the problem. Have had his scanner hooked up six ways to Sunday looking for that bad component, wiring or system. TPS been replaced with known good unit and still retaining the P2121 DTC, wiring pins, etc.. checked from TPS back to computer. Don't know how many hours we have in this truck checking all systems, if he would charge for time he has in it even with my help I would have to take out a loan, it is great to have good friends. I will be purchasing ECM this week end and will let know how this turns out. Thanks all

Just FYI update to this one, pulled ECM and sent off after internet search for re-builder. Problem was found in processor, unfortunately not repairable. Sending old ECM back along with a rebuilt unit, will let all know how this turns out, should be receiving ECM today or Monday.
