I found a 99 CTD ETC Auto (for my brother). Truck looks solid, but it has a sticker by the radiator. The sticker says that the ECM has been reflashed (by a local stealer)... What would cause this? Is this a bad sign? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

PS The truck has 64000 miles and is selling at blue book value. Carfax report came up clean.

NO... . this is usually good, just that some of the dumby technicians dont know where to "stick it". It is supposed to be stuck on the ecm itself. The reflash is usually a newer and better software update for the computer that controls all the fueling functions of the truck... although thier have been claims of poorer fuel milage with some of the new reflashes.

There are 2 flash stickers. One that is suppoused to be mounted on the module that is flashed and another one mounted near the emmision data sticker. It's not uncommon for a truck to be flashed. Almost all new cars have some sort of software update for them now days.
