I know a few of y'all are running ecodiesels and by now should be getting a fair bit of mileage on them. What is servicing them like? Easy with plenty of room or is anything cramped that requires disassembly of components for access? Has anyone serviced a trans yet and do they have a dip stick or just a plug like the cars?

What TSB's have been released for the VM and 8 speed so far? Have there been many exhaust system failures with regards to the flexible joint near the rear of the engine?

I have had three RPT 14-043 Air Suspension update; RPT 14-037 DS 3.0 Diagnostic/system; and P15 Radio Frequency Hub done. The oil cartridge is simple to change and so is draining the engine oil, the 8 speed transmission is real smooth have to look at tachometer to feel the shifting, according to Ram the transmission is not serviced. I use truck for towing a dive boat to Monterey, CA about twice a week. On the use of Def refill 3600 miles add 4 gallons and pickup at Pilot station in Salinas, CA. I had no issues with the truck at all, rides, fuel economy, I just drive and enjoy!

Closing in on 20k with zero issues so far. Oil change is simple enough, fuel filter can be tricky mostly from fuel dripping everywhere. The oil filter is on the drivers side, remove the cap and pop out the old and pop in the new then reinstall. A new O ring comes with the new oil filter, it's similar to fuel filter change on a second generation Cummins. Genos has the best price on the oil filter so far. For some reason the fuel filter is above the rear axle behind the fuel tank, a strap wrench is needed to change it out and yes fuel goes everywhere. I used an old plastic coffee can to catch the fuel as it dripped out. As far as the transmission goes I understand there is a plug I believe on the drivers side that you use to check the fluid level and there is no dipstick. Owners manual claims a lifetime fill, the transmission pan and filter are one assembly and pretty pricey, the fluid is somewhere around $40 per quart.

I have not had the exhaust leak on the connector to the turbo, it is a flex pipe holding the exhaust to the turbo. The DPF isn't too far downstream so I am sure it places some stress on the coupling. I have had a flash done to the PCM and also a flash for the air ride system. I did have another for the key fob, not sure what that was for. The transmission to date is working like it should and I have not seen any TSB's for it.

As far as oil for this little engine forget the Pennzoil and Mobile one look for Kendall GT-1 Full Synthetic Euro 5w-30. Kendall meets both specs to maintain warranty coverage and is cheaper.

Why would you say to forget the Pennzoil Ultra Euro L 5W-30 and the Mobil 1 ESP?

I bought the Pennzoil from Amazon for $6.77/qt shipped to my door.

Nothing wrong with the Kendall GT1. It is $6.71/qt shipped to my door. So, yes. It is cheaper :)

When My 2015 ED hits 7K it getting S-9000 Schaeffer oil, In order for the oil to have some effect on SCR it needs to use oil, if this truck uses 1QT Per 10K I will sell it. The filter can be had for $ each if you shop around, I would investigate the spec though.

I have over 14K towing boat trailer and the oil is always at or near the full mark, I check oil level and coolant level after each use, I use the Pennzoil as this is easy to find.

Does Schaeffers make a diesel rated 30w oil?

The only 9000 series oil I was aware of is in 5w40, which I use in my truck and the wifes commuter TDI.

NO..........I'm still going to use it.

There are certain fluids that need to Meet the OEM requirement specifics, like Trans fluids, transmissions have 1000s of parts, solenoids ,Valves, clutches, wiring ,etc, Plus its use in coupling, Engines have main bearings, rings, head parts ALL need lubrication on the same platform, requiring specific oil BC it may plug SCR component's if usage occurs is base on $$$$ warranty claims.

I see why also, Requirements, that some owners will buy auto zone oil and run it 20K miles+.Nothing wrong with Auto zone oil, it just does Not have the additives (Package) to run that long.

Have a question for you guy's .I have a Eco Jeep diesel GC Just a little over 10,000 we Had to Dealer do a Oil change .ever sense that was done my MPG has Gone through the Toilet. Dropped close to 8 MPG .Plus when they put the oil change reminder on windshield they marked it for 5000 miles . Did they by chance put the wrong oil in it ?My DEF usage has gone up also . It's going in for a check up this week but figured I would ask here also. Thank's Guy's for the advise .
