Recently I had a diagnostic run on my truck's automatic transmission, which said that my "ECT sensor voltage was too high. " I am trying to determine whether my extended warranty will pay for it or if I do. What I would like to know is whether the ECT sensor is part of the fuel injection system, the cooling system, or mainly for the transmission. The insurance guy says he doesn't know, has never heard of it, and that I need to go to my local dealer to have them determine what and where it is (for a large fee, of course). If it is part of the fuel injection system, the warranty will cover it. But if not, I'll be paying for it, and I'd rather not pay dealer prices for the job.
