Anyone using the Edlebrock IAS Shocks? From the description, they sound like a 'smart' shock that 'self tunes' based on the conditions.

On the 95, I changed to the Rancho 5000's to give more 'shock' under load, i. e. the 5th Wheel. The were stiffer all the time, like the std old shock is, which I didn't like solo, but was just right under load. I don't want to do this again.

Forrest, I have the Edlebrock IAS shocks on now. They are just as stiff , if not stiffer than the Rancho 5000`s. I don`t know how they are under load. As for the "smart" & "self tuning" aspect, I don`t see it. They don`t soften over bumps. . at least mine don`t.

The first impression I got when I opened the box was how "cheap" the Edlebrocks looked. Small dia body & piston rod.

My recommendation are the Rancho 9000`s. They are a much "heavier duty" looking shock, with a 1 3/8 piston & 5/8 piston rod. The Eldebrocks appear to have a 3/8 rod and probably a 1" piston. They are 5 way adjustable, so you can fine tune the ride. From mega stiff to mushy. Other members are happy with them too. I had the Rancho 9000`s, but the fronts were a little short and "topped out" over bumps
ruining them prematurely. If I could do it all over again, the Rancho 9000`s would be on. They are less expensive than the Edlebrock`s too.

You can purchase an in cab adjuster that uses a small air compressor to adjust the shock settings as you drive. I didn`t use this, as it`s easy to manually adjust them.

just my . 002 cents #ad

Thanks much. I agree, the adjustables sound like the way to go. After using the 5000's, I figured the best option was to be able to adjust, then I saw the IAS's.

That cab adjustment would be real convenient, but if the adjusters are easy enough to get to, then just a click or 2 when hooking up to the 5th wheel should be all that is needed.

Forrest, At the top of the page, there is a small word that says "search". Click on it and enter Shocks. There must be a 100 post`s on members recommendations for shocks. Get some more opinions before buying. #ad

Forrest, I have the 9000's and are very happy with them. I went to the shocks for the same reason you are looking now. I have a 25" bumper pull and wanted something with a little more control when loaded and a lot less when unloaded. I run with the shocks set at 3 in front and 1 in the back when empty. I adjust the back to 3 when pulling the trailer. I thought about the in-cab control, but have decided that I'll wait a bit longer before spending the money. The only time that I can think where the remote would be nice is when you unload your trailer for the night and run around to see the sites. Having to bend down every time you unload and load on a vacation gets a little old, especially if it is raining and I'm only 35. The shock do soften up the rear end quite nicely!!! Hope this helps.
