very cool. How are these numbers derived? do you measure acceleration with an on board accelerometer and then calculate the rest from rpm and speed information found on the CAN bus and from GPS? you must depend on the user inputting an accurate number for the truck's weight?

How are these numbers derived?

They can probably calcuate everything from the GPS and speed info. Given a known weight (that the user would have to input - no way around that), you can measure acceleration (both via GPS and the reported speed, as kind of a cross-check), and then calculate HP based on acceleration. I don't think there's an accelerometer, because nothing was ever said about levelling the unit. On the G-Force that I have, it makes a big deal about it being absolutely level.

good points. at least to calculate engine torque delivered to the rear wheels, they might need to know drivetrain info from CAN.
