I looked at some of the old posts and din't find what I was looking for so I'll ask.

Did the installation of the Juice/Attitude improve your empty mileage when running on levels 1 or 2? How about when towing heavy?

When towing heavy on level 1 or 2 did you see an increase, decrease, or did the EGT's stay the same as before.

Any concern over whether the 48RE can handle level 1 or 2 when towing heavy? Any actual experience?

Thanks! :)

I tow a 6000lb travel trailer and have had no problem running level 3 when on the flat; although when in the mountains its a different story - I always turn it down to 1 or 0 just to keep it cool. As for the 48RE, haven't had any problem either way.

Empty mileage: goes down on #2, possible improvement on #1 but nothing to write home about.

Towing: Level 2 had good response but mileage goes down compared to towing on level #1, especially over 12,000lbs. Towing on 3 is fun, especially from a stoplight. Mileage goes down but smoke and fun definately goes up.

No issues with the 48RE. On 4 and 5, weaknesses will show up if driven aggressively enough.

YMMV

yeah, tauling a bit of stuff in the bed of the truck (enough to drop the springs a few inches). the smoke fun was a bit more. I can't wait to tow something 7,000 pounds and crank the hot juice up for a few feet and see what kinda smoke screen it creates for a few feet.

Level 5 with the hot box and 10k behind you will fill an intersection with smoke :D

No mileage increase towing for me. Might have something to do with the amount of fuel I burn going uphill. I try to be nice but... Maybe I should just do what a lot of Furd guys do and go by what my overhead says. In that case, heck yeah I got a jump in mileage. I now get 15-16 pulling 25K. Ummmm, maybe not.

EGT's are significantly higher, but can be easily controlled with rt. ft.

I got a 6spd so I dunno nuttin' about your 48re.

I only tow on 1 or 2, usually sublevel 3. Don't like towing on level 3 'cause I DO like my clutch, for now.

This is definitely not "heavy", but I towed my jeep on a car trailer about 7,000 lbs + 7,500 lbs for the truck with the Juice on 1 or 2 plus injectors. On level ground cruise EGT were maybe 50-100* higher. The similar observation on hills too - maybe up to 150* higher. The EGT got higher quicker, but settled down quicker too due to pulling higher boost quicker than before. Basically what I am trying to say is that the 7,500 lbs didn't make the truck break a sweat!

The Juice on 1 gave me about 0. 25 to 0. 5 mpg more than the ~1. 5 mpg that the cam gave me running empty. Towing mileage I couldn't tell you for sure because I don't have enough data, but the latest tow with the jeep got 15. 9 mpg - all interstate driving @ 5,000 - 6,500 ft @ 75 mph.

I hauled 7 heifers tonight and I was in a hurry. I usually drive 65 or so on the one stretch that 65 is the legal limit. Tonight was 75. 7 heifers is 1/2 a load and puts me just about right at where these trucks are rated, GCVW around 23K. With Juice on 1-3 it was 70-75 up the hills without blinking. EGT's never even got close to hot, barely above 1000* max (post). For those of you who haul more "normal" loads than I do, level 1 or 2 should not cause you any troubles EGT wise.

Side note: I usually don't drive that fast or haul that light of a load. I felt like I was driving a sportscar. I'd like to get an SBC and drive around on level 2 or 3 more often, but then the rear end, then transmission, then...
