I have a pillar mount for my Attitude (with speaker hole).

How do you mount the thing?

Do you have to remove the original pillar cover?

If so how do you remove it?

I'm not very impressed with the mount but what are the options?

I just purchased a pillar mount w/speaker hole from glowshift gauges & just like you I was not impressed with the fit. My instructions state that the guage pillar can be mounted over the old "A" pillar or in place of the old one, after putting the guage pillar in both ways (over the old one & by itself) & getting 3 other opinions, I found it to look best over the old. On mine I trimmed about 1/3 of the top off to match it to the old & it looks OEM. You might want to try fitting it that way.

Good Luck, hope this helped.

Attitude mount

You will have to remove the old pillar this is done by simply pulling it toward you and by removing the rubber trim piece form the door. Once you have it lose you will have to pull the top mount for the speaker wire out off, then remove speaker from old pillar (remove actual speaker from cover then take cover out of pillar. You will install the new pillar over top of the old one so push speaker through old pillar then install speaker cover in new pillar and push speaker into cover. Next line up the new pillar over old pillar and drill a hole for the push pin through both. Only one pin is usually supplied and it is not enough for me anyway. You can purchase a set of ten Autometer part# 3281 or use screws. Next run the attitude wire into opening for attitude, then through hole in old pillar were speaker was, then finally down along pillar. I have found it the easiest to remove fuse box cover fish the atttitude wire to fuse box cover then back through toward the firewall. Fianlly reinstall new and old pillar to post. I have installed several this way and they seem to line up pretty well hope this helps.

Same as above. However, I used epoxy to bond my new one to my old one instead of using the supplied pin. That pretty much ruins the old one if I ever take out the edge mount, but I've had three of these trucks with some sort of gauges and haven't had a reason to take any of them back out yet.

BTW, I also took the attitude monitor apart, taped it and painted it the same agate color as the mount. Here's the pic.

Nicely done, I never thought of actually painting my casing for the attitude, I might have to look into that and painting me some camel hehe

Thanks everyone for your input. I just now got back to this thread. I have had pressing business and was unable to get back to the important stuff. I will be attempting the pillar mount project this weekend. I'll let you know how it went.
