have a comp on my 02 HO ,but without the wire tap,as a adjustable EZ with the ability to turn it off. I noticed right away that when at driving speed on the hiway the enginesdiesel chatter makes a surging noise -louder,then quieter, over and over as long as the box is on. Like the timing is constantly changing. having the cruise on or off makes no diff. was wondering if all boxes do this??? edge,banks,... etc..... ,or if theres one better than the rest for this?? any answers appriciated. thanks,LUKE

I don't have an HO, but my drag comp does the same thing. It only does it when I set my cruize. It goes up a couple of mph and then down a couple mph. It is hardly noticeable though.

My truck behaves with the comp on 2x3 or lower while using cruise control, anything higher makes the motor surge like already described.

Did you ground it directly to the battery? If not, try moving the ground wire to the neg side of the drives side battery. SNOKING

If it does it on C/C, its because the ECM is adding fuel but too much gets added(because of the box or injectors) so it backs it off over and over again causing a surge and change in sound. If it is not on cruise control, I would say it is your foot????

Nobody reads anymore! He said it did it without and with the cruise control. SNOKING

edge box

I had the same problem you are describing after I installed my EZ box. Check your codes, probably have the dreaded p0216 code. The box seems to pronounce the surging sound

yes its grounded directly to the batt. ... ... ... ... And I've had the nice 216 code(injection pump timing failure)but they wouldn't replace the pump yet, they put a LP on though, thats why the wires not tapped yet! no codes latley, its not going back for warr. work till its DONE this time!!! :) :)

The truck will still run, usually fine for a while. Then you will probably get what most people get, what I describe as the truck not taking any fuel. It's like this you are going down the highway at 70mph and you go to accelerate and nothing happens. I feathered the pedal a bit and off she went. That started to happen more frequently over time. Do you know how to cycle your ignition to see the codes set in the computer?

216 code

will the truck still run with this code? Does the code set off the check engine light?

when I had the code It was starting like crap on and off, then one time I almost couldn't get it started then it took off,but started missing and almost quit, and stayed running. driving home that time it missed idling around a couple turns, and whwen I got home ran fine, took to the dealer and like I said above they put a LP on and said thats why the code came up --LIKE HELL!!

next time the'll be no question--it will not run any more :-laf

Your VP44 is probably going south in a hurry. My truck used to chatter too when my VP44 was on its way out. Same symptoms. It only gets worse. The VP has probably already passed the point of no return...

If you have a Cummins VP44 checker (or there's a way to jumper it even if you don't), but can help diagnose things, but if you've had the 0216 code before, it's probably done, no matter how you test it.

motor noise

Mine is the same way. In the morning when its cold if i go over 1750 rpm it gets this surging clatter sound but i dont feel any surge in power. Ive tried all the wiring tricks it gets quiet wen it warmes up and a good fuel add with lub helps. I think its there with comp off also just harder to hear. I have my fan off so its quieter. I talked to DTT guy he said to try new injecters i have 11500 on stock so it. s time anyway so thats next i think jammer 1s

I had a question. My box added a lot of power and smoke, but I can't really tell the difference between 2x5 and 5x5. Does this mean the wire tap isn't making a good connection? Should I turn off the box untill I solder the wire?
