I bought a used Edge Comp , & the guy did not send the boost elbow indicated in the installation instructions.

Can anyone tell me what it does & how critical it is to install?

Also, if he doesnt send it, is it a generic part that can bought elsewhere locally? A pic of an installation would be nice if anyone has one- they don't have one in the instructions.

Thanks ahead- chet

The boost elbow is only good on the HX35 turbo that comes on the manual transmission. You have an auto, so you need a turnbuckle or . 22 shell casing for your HY35.

This will allow higher boost pressures than stock to lower EGTs and smoke under high power situations.

NPS, that is only true on 01-02 trucks. The 98. 5 - 00 autos got the HX-35.

The boost elbow will increase boost and typically drop EGT's about 100* or so. Since you have gauges in the truck, how much did the EGT go up with the installation of the EZ? With the elbow, it's typically within 50* of stock.

I've got a boost elbow I got with a comp, and can't use it... . I've got the HY-35... If you want it PM me your addr and I'll send it to ya... .

Not sure from your post if you got a different elbow with the comp or just no elbow at all. I ended up going with an aftermarket adjustable elbow a few months after I installed the comp (and the elbow it came with). I was able to adjust the boost up a bit higher and get the EGTs down a little bit more with the adjustable elbow. If you are missing the boost elbow altogether then I'd recommend looking in the TDR classifieds for "Adjustable Boost Elbow" from TDR member Don Troxell. He sells them cheap and IMO this is a better elbow that the comp comes with because it is adjustable.

I'm not sure . I didnt record any set values to start with. Where should I set up the comparison at, ie: rpm, speed acceleration, load, etc. ?

I got NO elbow with the Comp. Does Don have a website or contact #?

looks like you have stock injectors... . if it was me , i would just disable the waste-gate(unscrew the hose fitting and put in a plug)

i seriously doubt you will overspool with just a box and stock injectors
