Hey guys,

I'm thinking about getting one of these. My question is, Will I really be able to use it without putting on a 4" exaust? I'm guessing that the egt's will be quite a bit higher on the box.

BTW whats the max egt's that you can hit without ruining somthing?

Is this going to put any kind of extra stress on a stock (to the injection pump) fuel system i. e the lift pump?

I've got a deal on one of these locally for about $400. I just don't want to bomb it out and have to spend a ton on repairs. Not during the christmas shopping season ;)

Been dropping lots of hints around the house if you know what I mean :D

Happy Holiday's Ya'll!

you will definitely need 4 inch exhaust 1250 is a safe egt if your still running the same setup as in your signature you will definitely be able to go higher than that

BD race box aka Edge comp box (edge makes BD), put 4" ebay has some good deals, I got my 5" for 420 shipped to the door. Also put your box in your ash tray (if you dont smoke), nobody will know what you have :D

What do you guys think about these exhaust systems that you don't have to weld? Has anyone tried one? If so, how does it hold up? Do you have any problems with leaks? Also how much difference tempwise is there between a 4" and a 5" ? Should I go ahead and spend the extra for a 5" system?

Any suggetions on a good quality, affordably priced, self installed system?

My new motto "What fun is money if you aren't spending it" :-laf

Ive gotten my 5" up around 1200 with the box on 4x3, but I dont run it long with the box on that high (stock trans) I only had a problem with the temp when I put a ADD (anti defuling device) aka "boost fooler" on the truck along with the box. The temps went up to high 1200s and I was creating wayyyyy too much boost with the stock turbo (39 psi), so it came off and I havnet gotten the temps up that high yet again. (I couldnt tell you what the 4" is running I went with the exaust then gauges then box)

My 5" was a kit from ebay and the worst part about the whole kit was taking your old exhaust off. After that it was just a matter of putting it together. It took me around 2 hours to install (took time making a muffler elimination part) but other than that It went quick and tive got a TINY leak behind the part that I made but other than that it was quick easy and looks good.

I took another 30 min to cut off the tail a little and put a 6"x24" chrome rolled 45 tip on it. You will get ALOT of comments and people pointing!!

here is the ebay link of the guy where I got mine from:

*note* it is only 5" after the muffler! with the kit

Comp bomb

If you are going to bomb the fuel system and are worried about the temp you should bomb the turbo too. Since the Comp is also a boost fooler you can adjust **NOT DISABLE** the wastegate so that the extra fuel can be burned with some extra air. This should help you control the EGT's to some extent. Also the added timing that is with the Comp Box will help on EGT's. These are some of the same questions that I have before I put a Comp on my tiny HY... ... ... ..... if some people can do it with an HY you can do it with a HX... . that's why you have a gauge  4" should help... and if that is not enough a Scotty II should help more.

There are many 4'' exhaust systems out there that are not welded. Im running a Rips 4'' it just clamps together no leaks no problems sounds good to :D . This systems not to expensive and its a good system check out www.sourceautomotive.biz good service and prices :D

Or just do the muffler elimination kit, keep the stock pipes until further mods require 5" full exhaust. Different turbos need different downpipes, different companies slip/clamp together exhausts are slightly different lengths (don't ask how I found THAT out!). How far are you gonna go? Whatever you answer to that, it'll probably change within 6 months!
