Why 12-valve makes more power than 24-valve?

What is this that I have been seeing about the Comp box starting to defuel at a certain RPM? Why would anyone want it to defuel below redline?

Since I have a new and uninstalled Comp what are my options to correct this so I can keep things fueled all the way to redline?

thanks.

Bill

send it to DD and let them reprogram it with the no-defuel program. It is there to let some people who don't know how to treat their their truck.

Just to pot stir, what do YOU need the no defueling for?

Andrew

I am not sure if I will need to defuel or not. I am not sure that I see a point to it if the truck hasnt hit the high end of the RPM band. If there is no more power being made then I have no problem with it. .

This is my daily driver not a race truck but I still see shifts up near 3000rpm.

What will happen if you keep the pedal down and the box starts to defuel?

DD? Diesel Dynamics?

How much do they charge? Can they make the curve better for the DD2 injectors?

thanks

Bill

Bill,

Power Edge can reprogram your box as well... . The defueling feature is only active in levels 1-4 on the Comp race model or DD-UFM Competition model. Normally the box starts defueling the engine around 2700 rpm to help control egt's. In level 5 on the hot boxes it doesn't defuel so it allows you to continue to build power or hold it.

Hope this helps,

Doug

Thanks for the info. I got a call back from Edge this morning.

Even on 5/5 the Comp will start to defuel at 2700. At that point you are past the HP peak so the defueling is to keep the EGTs under control. Or so they told me.

thanks again.
