Does anyone have the Edge Comp Installation Instructions on their computer?

The Edge website is pretty poor, and some searches here haven't turned up anything.

Let me know if you have them, and I'll make them available on my web server and post a link here.

Thanks,

Mike

Well okay, how about this--what's the procedure for hooking up the comp without setting any codes, or causing other problems? Do I disconnect the batteries first and then hook it up? Or is it something I even need to worry about?

Mike

Ill shoot from the hip if you would like. I hooked mine up by unhooking the batteries. I ran the plug and the red wire into the cab so I could get the box positioned and use the lone red wire for keyed ignition power. The two plugs and the pair of wires go to the engine compartment. One of the plugs goes to the MAP sensor just behind the fuel filter. The other goes to a plug down low by the motor mount..... or up by the power steering unit toward the front of the motor. If its not in one spot, then it will be in the other. The paired wires are for ground and the pump tap. Black is grnd... grey is pump wire.

The pump wire is kinda confusing but it is the top pair of wires... and the closest wire of the pair to the engine block. Its tight and a PIA to get to. I would search for a picture to show me this detail. If you dont tap the wire still attach the ground.

I used fuse 17 for the ignition power and the intake horn for my ground.

Hope this helps

Mark

PS Make sure you have all connections secure and use di-electric grease to keep moisture out of them. You shouldn't have a code problem when you hook up your batteries. All should be fine

Some guys have problems when using engine bolts as grounding points - it's better to go directly to the ground post on the battery - OR if you must use a bolt, like the one securing the fuel filter, be sure to completely remove the bolt and wire brush or otherwise remove the outer oxide covering the threads and underside of the bolt head - that coating resists current flow, potentially causing a poor ground and Comp operating problems. As suggested above, a good anti-oxide paste is a good precaution as well...
