Fihin Guide, How Do You Like Your Tst Box And How Long Have You Had It?

So far, I really ike it. I have not had it all that long, but it has been stone reliable.

It can be quirky with a defueling shudder when used with bigger than stock injectors. But, I cannot complain one bit!!

I'd put the money towards a new VP44 rather than a new box. The 216 code says it all. Your injector pump is shot. The 237 code probably came about when you had the box unplugged but the harness in place.

Not necessarily. I had a 216 code pop up 2-1/2 years ago. Turned out to be a bad lift pump.

Sometimes the 237 code can trip a 216 code as well. I am unsure why, but my dad's had exactly that happen.

So, while it is probably the pump. I would check the easy stuff first.

I Will Just Play It By Ear Guys And Just Hope That My Cel Goes Out In Acouple Of Days And Hope I Dont Have To Replace Anything. But If I Do Have To Replace Anything At All I Would Like To Replace My LiftT Pump With ThE Vulcan KIT From Genos. I Have Heard Good Reviews About It.

I like Vulcan's stuff!

I have an unreleased part that I am getting ready to test. Should be in this weekend.

Dave

well i guess i won't have to play it by ear anymore. truck acted up today. it has been at least 2 days since i pulled the edge comp box and the wiring. I made an appointment at the dealer for monday for them to check it out. It should be under warranty as i only have 77,000 plus miles on it. Hope that is only the vp-44.

i kinda sort did have the pump tapped. I had the vp-44 stealth pump cover on with a wire. I took that off today so it is now bone stock.

DC is wise to the covers..... What normally happens is the truck gets fixed under warranty but DC denies the warranty to the dealer. Then the dealer comes back to you for the bill. Good luck.

Yeppers! I heard a tech at my Dodge dealer talking about it one day. They had a "supect" pump. :-laf

Dave

i will find out monday and hopefully It will be replaced without no penalty or money out of my pocket. I will make sure they get it covered under warranty hopefully. If they don't get it under warranty i hope it wont cost too much. If it costs way too much i might just have to get a new truck or find some way of paying for it.

You know this already, but when you had the comp unplugged from the harness and still had the harness plugged in under the hood, you but your truck into what is known as "Limp mode". Your CEL comes on and the truck will only go about 30 mph. This is designed into the ECM so that if you have a MAP sensor failure you can still "Limp" home.

Get your VP replaced and reinstall the comp. If the dealer denies your warranty look at a pump from Industrial Injection.

DC is known for its high priced pumps and labor. In the aftermarket world a new pump will run around $1100 and lobor between $200-$300. Good luck there are bomb friendly dealers out there.

A VP can be replaced with just a couple hours of your time. No real special tools are required but a stubby 19mm wrench really helps out.

if you have to pay for the pump out of your pocket, you might as well spend just alittle extra $ and get a hot rod pump. i have heard that it makes a world of difference and does not effect fuel economy negetively. easy to say when it's not my money though, but i am interested. have to wait till the death comes to justify it. good luck with warrenty first though, free is always better!!!!

I droppped the truck off at the dealer this morning and called them 2 hours later and was not even in yet. My appointment was for 9:30 am. Truck was not pulled into shop until around 4 p. m. I finally got the good news!! It is covered under the warranty!! Good thing i remembered to take my stealth pump cover off. I was told it should be done by thursday. So i had to get my a rental.
