I'm trying to install my Comp box, I've got everything together but the pump tap, My question is probably a stupid one... ... But I don't know if I'm supposed to cut the wire from the pump and join it to the gray one on the box? Or if I should just strip the insulation on the pump wire and solder it together so the pump wire is the same and the box wire is spliced in, This is hard to explain. If someone has close up pics of their wire it would really help! I will probably solder as the truck is long off warranty, and it seems to hold the best. thanks alot for any help.

Just strip the insulation and solder the wire from the comp onto the pump wire. DO NOT cut the pump wire, other your fuel solenoid won't get any signals from the stock computer.

I used a T-tap on dads truck. It was difficult to get in there, but i got 'er done and couldn't be happier.

Good Luck

Use a new Posi-Tap from Wal-Mart. Positive connection, no signs that it was there, and no messy setup (wire stripping, soldering, etc. ) and it's only like $5

Got Smoke?,

Doesn't the posi-tap pierce the wire and leave a trace, i. e. puncture hole?

BTW, what color did you use?

Thanks,

Casey

I have a 12V so I don't have the VP44 wire to pierce. However I read a lengthy discussion about the posi-tap, and I have one too out of a multi-pac I bought. I didn't think it would leave a big noticeable mark, but maybe I'm wrong?
