What are the boost sub levels for the edge comp? I was all set to buy the EZ but after reading the posts about the comp box i'm thinking twice about it. Don't want to buy something now and want more later. My main propose is towing. I know the EZ levels is

level 1 20 psi

level 2 10 psi

level 3 2 psi

I would initially use the box without the pump wire hooked up.

Thanks, Jeff

I'm not sure about the boost levels but I do know this, for the money the comp box is the way to go and the way it sounds, your like me, wanting more:D

jjolin,

I have the Comp, and it is great for towing! With a total of 5 levels with 5 sublevels in each level, that gives you 25 different setting to fine tune for maximum towing performance according to your EGT's.

Get the Comp, you'll be happy you did!

Hey Big Bob,

The way you have your truck set up is just how I would like to have my truck. But I'm thinking that my EGT will be to high while towing. I am between 15,000 and 20,000 GCVW. Where do you set your Comp box when you tow and what are your EGT. Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks Les

The comp is the way to go,

as for power. I have 275 injectors, and comp. , turn buckle wastgate,

stock clutch will not hold all power, It will barely handle it on level 3

I like the way i can control the black smoke,

SBC next on list.

Sixspeed,

The travel trailer I towed weighed about 6000#. That would give me a GCVW of 13,500. I came over Snoqualmie Pass at 70 mph, with the Comp set on 4X4, Bully Dog III's and Piers Turbo. Egt's were 1200 degrees and I had a lot of throttle. That was actually the first time I had ever towed anything over 3000# with my truck. I was still really impressed.

I had the Comp set on 3X3 when I started up Snoqualmie and the EGT's were only about 1125, so I said what the heck and cranked it to 4X4 as stated above. I keep an eye on the EGT gauge and adjust the box accordingly.

That is the nice thing about the Comp, it's adjustability.

I have a question about the Comp's performance: How will it perform if the pump wire is not connected? I'm sure it will do something, but is it better to go with the EZ if you don't want to tap into the pump wire?

I just sold my EDGE EZ and am getting a comp (actually the Diesel Dynamics version) I will be puting the truck on a dyno at the end of January and will post results.

I tow a 10k 5er and like the ability to adjust the amount of power based on egt's. Guess I'll find out in the spring:)

I will not be piercing the wire either, but I will be installing the new plate for the pump.

BTW, when I had the EZ and DD2's, stock HY35, and 4", dynoed at 274 without a boost elbow (boost was 26 psi max)

It's a plate that replace the cover on the new pump. Grabs the wire under the plate... ... ... no need to pierce. Unless, of course, you want to pierce other things, nose, naval, etc... :D

The is not much use in getting a Comp if you are not planing on hooking up the pump wire. Sure you can adjust when the fueling of the EZ starts according to boost on the fly, but you will not get the fueling, power or thrills without the pump wire attached! ATTACH THE WIRE! You'll like it! Or save your money.

I like the comp because you don't need to tap the wire until warranty is over then away you go. Without the wire attached it will work like the EZ except you can turn it off from in the cab. Batman I didn't know that Bullydog had a version of the comp. As far as I knew Diesel Dynamics was the only people that had a version. I currently had there chip in and love it. :D :D :D

Stefan is exactly right....

In fact, that's why I bought it from him while he was here in Texas. I'm leaving it off untill that warrenty is toast, and I have DTT goodies to hold the power. :D

Don't waste your $ buying an EZ, then turnaround in 6 months, and buy a COMP, just stick with the COMP!

Andrew

The hole reason i'm planning on buying the comp is i KNOW after the warranty runs out i'll want more power. I see alot of guys upgrading after only a few months. I want to do it right the first time. I know it'll be tough looking at the wire under the hood calling my name "Hook Me UP" We'll see what kind of will power i have. Thank's for your inputs. Great Site!

Jeff

Stefan... ... ... ... OOPS MY BAD, I'm getting this from Massdiesel and was almost positive he said BD (BullyDog) not DD. Add another one to my list of oops:D

Sorry for the mistake!
