Well I had been dealing with several problems that everyone should be aware of by now that the version 8 has. I contacted them last week and they sent me a warranty replacement which came today.

I opened the box and was surprised to find the new version 10. 8 manufactured 9-10-07Oo. inside "Hot"version of course:p. I will get it installed this weekend and give it a try.

It is suposed to have the older version 7 fueling curve in it also that was more agressive than the version 8 from what I have read. It is also supposed to have the hardware issues resolved.

Now that the temps are down in the single digits it a perfect time to test it.

To get the "HOT" or Drag upgrade you call edge and they give you an rma to have yours sent back to them and you send them $125 bucks and sign a waiver and you get the drag upgrade.

To see what version you have look at the back of the unit it has all the info on it.

I am having the problem with my drag right now where the power doesn't turn on till you do the key trick, after 3 boxes it still does it. I am sending it back as soon as the Quad box arrives. Let us know how you like it.

Sorry for my ignorance, but how do I go about getting mine upgraded to v10. 8? I've got v8 right now, and have been having problems with it lately, especially in the cold weather.
I only bought the box a couple of months ago, so it should still be under Edge's one year warranty.

Just call them & tell them your problem.

ANicklas:

Give em a shout & talk to Gerry Wilson. He'll take care of it for you! Mines on it's way & will have it by this coming Tuesday. Software version 10. 8 is suppose to cure the cold weather power up issues with the Comp. & some fueling issues others are experiencing. The software upgrade is free of charge!

The first test is in.

Well I just got home from work and test drove the new comp. It does seem more agressive than the older 1. I set it to the same settings as I always run 1x1 and 2x2 mainly and this one I can feel a definate kick when I switch from setting to setting while driving, I went to level 3 but the roads are snowy so I wasn't on the throttle. my last one wasn't as noticeable when switching levels.

BUT... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . Here is the kicker.

It was right at 0 degrees F when I went to start it this morning and guess what.

I had to cycle the key a couple times to get it to come on again. #@$%!

Looks like this new version didn't fix the no turn on when cold issue. I will try it again this evening when I get ready to leave for work. Edge may get a call tomorrow if it does it again to let them know of the no fix.

Cool down update

I just went out to check if the comp will come on with first key cycle now that its cold again.

It took 2 key cycles to turn on. the first time the key is turned on it just blips the led's for a split second.

Looks like I will be hooking this one up to a switch too.

Edge is going to learn of this tomorrow.

Do you just run power from the battery or a always hot terminal to a switch & then hook that to the power in line on the Comp? Does it work everytime? I'm getting mine via UPS on Tuesday..... Disappointing to say the least! Gerry told me that the 10. 8 version resolved this on their truck... . I guess maybe they're back to the drawing board with this issue! I'll post my results on Tuesday when I receive my updated box. :(

With my version 8 I had it hooked to constant hot. It would turn on all the time but and would switch levels but would do nothing until the comp warmed up. no response to the engine.

This 10. 8 I hooked up like it is supposed to and it did just the same had to cycle the key a couple times to get it to turn on but it did send power to the vp44 while cold I could feel the kick as i switched through the levels. I will just hook it to a keyed hot through a switch and see if it will work. If not I know that going through a constant hot works with a switch.

I go my drag comp about 6 months after they came out with the comp, I have no problems in cold weather and it fuels like a beast.

I do have a question, what are you doing running your comp when the engine is cold anyway?? I always turn my comp down to 1x1 when I park the truck and I always wait until the temp gauge is at 180 before I turn it up.

You may have the version 7 or earlier then. They seem to have been the good ones.

I run at level 1x1 or 2x2 95% of the time also. But the engine is at opetating temps before the cab gets to operator/comp comfort level. :-laf

Once the temp gauge gets past 120-140 your engine is at operating temps "Cylinder temp"even though the cooling system isn't quite there yet.

Received my replacement Comp today via Brown. Went to truck, turned the key on & no lite on the orig Comp. Unplugged the Comp, plugged in the replacement, turned the key on & the lights lit up! Went for a short drive down to the local UPS & appeared to be working fine. Checked it several times & it turned on each time. We'll see if this continues to work as it should. Fingers are crossed!

Clay :)

Called Edge today & the new box went out today, should be here tomorrow & ready to sell soon as I try the Adreneline.
