I was able to recently compare both the Comp and the EZ on my ETH (I was inadvertantly sent both when I placed my order). The EZ provided very smooth power and really helped the low end torque (I didn't feel as much benefit in the upper RPM band). I think it's definately the way to go on an ETH if you are POSITIVE that you will not install injectors later. Installation is a breeze.



Power delivery with the Comp was not as smooth with the stock injectors and I had to turn it to level 4 before I felt the same "get up and go" as I did with the EZ. :rolleyes:



I ultimately kept the Comp because I wanted the in cab adjustibility when I upgraded my injectors (this past weekend). I installed BD1's and it really made a difference. The Comp power delivery is now much smoother and I can blow smoke and slip the clutch if I choose. ;) ;) (I can also choose to not smoke. )



Oh yeah, someone mentioned using the Comp without installing the injector pump wire. I tried this trick, but the Comp did not provide nearly as much power as the EZ.
 
Is the EZ easy enough to "quick disconnect" for warranty work?



I am thinking a EZ and exhaust is all I want on my truck what do you think?
 
The EZ box makes its horsepower from 1500 to 2000 rpm and the injectors really start pulling about 2000 rpm to wide open. They make a great combonation together. If I was you I'd go with the DD1s at a minimum and the EZ box.
 
On a pure $/HP ratio, you can't beat the injectors and/or box. The box is very easy once you've found all of the connectors; they can't be mixed up (it does require a little one-handed dexterity though). The boost elbow is pretty easy also, but it is a place that will give you away as non stock if you go to the dealer. (Some members talk about disabling the wastegate completely with a turnbuckle; do a search on this forum for turnbuckle). Total install time for a first timer shouldn't exceed 30 minutes (once you've done it you will really be surpirsed at how easy it is). If you want the truck to look untouched when you take it to the dealer, use something other than the supplied velcro to mount the EZ box; maybe a couple of straps (I've read on one post that the DC mechanics look for the velcro as a giveaway that the truck has been modified). Also, you could wash the engine compartment prior to returning it to the dealer to remove any fingerprints on connectors that aren't normally touched.



As far as the exhaust goes, unless you are having EGT problems, the benefit is much smaller than injectors (unless you like the sound). I installed injectors to go with my comp this weekend and it took about 3 hours by myself. I may put out a post tonight with some potentially helpful hints from the perspective of a first time injector installer. If you do add injectors most people recommend an EGT gauge. My EGTs will quickly go past 1400 under full throttle acceleration (I also slip my clutch).



Like I said in my post, you will be very pleased with an EZ on an ETH.
 
It is "easy" to make an EZ warranty friendly. Place a plastic box where the EZ normally sits on the velcro strips. Fill it with fuses, black tape etc. The no one will think twice about the velcro strips then. Remove the rubber wastegate line by twisting and pulling when the engine is warm. Replace it before a visit with mother. Use a different line for the EZ elbow.
 
xbubblehead, have you treid swapping back to the EZ with the injectors? if so what are your impressions? I am thinking about going to the Comp, I am just not sold yet.
