Hooked up "the wire" last night!!

Synthetics question

I was reading old posts and noticed that the Edge Comp says on settings 1-3 it will defuel below the stock settings. I'm assuming that this feature is to reduce smoke when running bigger injectors.

With these settings, would it be possible to get DD2s to smoke less or about the same as my stock injectors with my EZ set on jumper 2?

How is smoke with say DD2s and just a boost fooler?

I'm trying to convince myself to get injectors, but I'm not ready to leave a trail of soot when I'm light-footing it. Right now with my EZ on jumper 3, I have drive as slow as the city busses to get it not to smoke.

Thanks, Marc

You can get your truck with a comp and 2's to smoke less than an ez with stock injectors. If I set my comp on 2x2 it will smoke less with my 2's than the stock injectors did with an EZ.

And its a heck of a lot more fun!:D

EZ jumpers........

The jumpers control when fueling begins. Jumper one is 20 PSI. That will kill most of the smoke and once boost is achieved you get the power surge. Jumper 2 is at 10 PSI if I remember right.

I have DD2's and the EZ set on one. Even with my heavy truck it doesn't smoke that much on take off. I wired a switch in the cab to go between 1 & 3 and the smoke difference is huge.

I run 3's and with the Comp on 2x3 or below I have to really step it to make it smoke and even when it does it is very little. The ajustabilty of the comp is ideal to run bigger injectors. You shouldn't have any smoke concerns with a Comp and 2's. Your clutch(if stock) may say othewise tho... ... ... feel free to PM or email me for more details.

Hope it helps,

I recently switched from an EZ stacked with a Powermax3 comp to an edge drag comp. I love being able to easily switch between the power and sub levels for smoke control. I think im going to ditch my dd3's and go to supermentals. The adjustablility and smoke control are awesome.

Just to help clear things up a bit.

The edge comp has main levels 1-5 and sublevels 1-5.

The main levels add fuel for extra power.

The sublevels control when that extra fuel is added.

Sublevel 3 adds at the same level as stock only more fuel because of the main level settings.

Sublevel 2 adds the extra fuel at a higher boost level to help eliminate smoke.

Sublevel 1 adds the extra fuel at an even higher boost level to help eliminate smoke especially while towing or full throttle starts.

Sublevel 4 and 5 add the fuel at a faster rate than stock.

Sublevels 1-5 effect main levels 1-5 when fueling comes in.

The higher the main level setting the higher the fueling will be.

Example:

main level 1; 40 extra HP

main level 2; 60 extra HP

main level 3; 80 extra HP

main level 4; 100 extra HP

main level 5; 120 extra HP

but added HP will come in according to what you have sublevels set at.

The EZ is basically the same only there is one main level, 60 extra HP, the jumpers are the same as the sublevels, 1 being the least aggressive and three bringing the extra fuel on as soon as you press down on the throttle, or more agressive.

Each truck responds slightly different with injectors and fueling boxes but on the average you should be able to control smoke with stage 2 and even stage 3 injectors.

Thanks Guys

I love my EZ, but the ability to defuel below stock seems to be the clincher for me. It looks like I'll be buying the Comp, injectors, and a clutch. OUCH!$$$$:D

Ron,

Excellent post, cleared up a lot of my confusion about the levels. Sigh. Now I reeeealy, reeeealy want one! Gotta wait a bit first, though.

Who got her doors blown in by an F-150 this morning, just to see him zip past the local sherrif next!

Just did a dyno on a Dynojet and had the mag RPM hookup done as well to calc. torque.

Stock turbo, stock inj. Edge EZ on #2 setting and a bluechip 4-wire box.

First run was just the EZ alone

268 HP and 552 torque

Second run, EZ and 4-wire on highest level

331 Hp and 817 torque. This is the highest run I have done so far.

I plan on getting RV 275 inj. and that might be it 'cause mu Con OFE clutch might not hold much more that that...
