Does it make any noticeable difference to change between the three settings on an edge e-z?I just left mine set where it was ,but have been wondering if there was anything to gain by making changes?

I believe the 3 settings are as follows:

Default: 2psi boost

second: 5psi boost

third: 10ps boost.

It is my understanding that all three settings are the same amount of HP it just starts fueling at different boost levels.

The reason you would want to change this is if you have unwanted black smoke. For example, if you have injectors and keep the EZ on the stock setting you're going to dump a ton of coal on the fire before the boost can come up enough to burn the excess fuel... . If this is the case, you have the option to move the jumper to reduce the smoke... . if you want. ;-)

With my new addition of DD2's and the warm 80F weather we are having around here, I had to change my jumper from the most aggressive to the middle setting. No mater how hard I tried, I just couldn’t keep the freight train from smoking.

Now it has the same power in mid to WOT as before, it is just a little more manageable at the bottom end. I have to apply just a tad bit more go pedal then before, but the smoke is almost gone.

I also noticed my cruise control works much better with the EZ on the middle setting. It was very jerky before. The truck would want to lunge forward/build lots of boost then left off. It would do this over and over again. Now that I changed it to the middle setting, the cruise acts more like it did when it was stock.

All the settings will fuel the same amount, just the least agresive ones wait for more boost before they dump the fuel...

The 3 setting adjust the fueling at low boost.

Setting 1 - 33% at 0 boost, 100% at 20 psi

Setting 2 - 50% at 0 boost, 100% at 15 psi

Setting 3 - 67% at 0 boost, 100% at 10 psi

WOT,

How do you figure timing only? It adds fuel on all settings just different rates and at different boost levels.

Rattler,

My previous post is from Aaron at Edge Products, so you know I didn't make them up. There is alot of confusion as to what these settings do and when. If it came from the manufacturer then I would believe it. They make a great product just look at all the happy Comp users out there.

EZ jumper settings 1-3 allow adjustment of the additional fueling above stock based on boost level. EZ jumper setting 3 will add the most fuel at low boost. The amount of additional fuel to be added is calculated, the amount actually added after being compared to boost from the total is as shown below:

EZ Jumper setting 1 33% is added at 0 psi boost

100% is added at 20 psi boost

EZ Jumper setting 2 50% is added at 0 psi boost

100% is added at 15 psi boost

EZ Jumper setting 3 67% is added at 0 psi boost

100% is added at 10 psi boost

I just switched the jumper from 3 to 2 today. Smoke is down to about half of what it was. Some low boost power loss, but not much. I only drove about 4 miles though. I'll know more tomorrow.

pcarlson,

Ask Aaron "off the record. " He confirmed it for me when I purchased one. You can also find it referenced in some other posts...

Thanks for the help guys. I am going to switch things around a little when i get time and see how much it changes things. Randy

I could show you........

Having put a switch on mine. I can go from one to three. This is with DD2 injectors. On one I can easily control the smoke with the go pedal. On three there is no major performance gain but the smoke just billows out.

Remember I have a really heavy truck and it takes a lot to get it going.

Had some time......

So I tried taking pics of the smoke with both settings. Because of the delay with the digital camera they didn't turen out as I would have hoped. That and today was a cool day. In the mid 50°'s. A hotter day would have made it more pronounced.

The camera has a MPG feature so I tried some short movies of it too. they can be seen here:

Smoke movies

Here is the pics:

On setting #3

Hey Big,

What setting was your camera on to get those still pictures small enough to post to the web site? I think mine was on 3. 2 megapixel and there was no cutting it down enough to get under the 32kb limit. Thanks.

Udaloy.......

The pics are 640 X 480. But they are hosted on a web site. That's the size pic that looks best on the TDR. I have Cox high speed and they give you 10 Meg of space for each of 7 E-mail accounts. I host the pics there and link the TDR to them. Hope that makes sense that's the best I can explain it.

BWB:

In those movies, it sounds like the acceleration is happening kinda fast. Does that amount of smoke represent WOT or something close to it?

If that's all it smokes, then I think I could drive almost smoke-free with some large (dd3) injectors and and the EZ. May not even have to downgrade the jumper...

WOT.......

That was punched from a stop. Now it was a cool day. Really hot days make for more smoke. With an EZ and III's you could easily control smoke with your right foot.

There is a cover on the end of the box that is held in place by 2 Allen head screws. Remove screws and plate to reveal jumpers. With long nose pliers just gently slide the jumper clip off and slide it on one of the other pairs of pins. :D

ok I pull the cover and the jumper is on the left pins with the edge sticker up, pins closes to the box not the center. Is this setting 1 or 3? I have stock injectors and want max smoke. Thanks

Dale, I don't think you will see much smoke with the stock injectors... :(

With the cover off the pins to the extreme right are the #3 setting (most aggressive)... Good luck Phil :D
