Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Edge Ez (+) DDII's = what horse power?

I'm getting REAL close to having DTT build a trans for me. They suggested that I put whatever performance mods on before the trans rebuild so they can set up the trans exactly for the power.

Shanti Kondolay told me that the DDII's and an Edge EZ set up on #3 was a good combo. Can anyone tell me (hopefully without guessing) what HP and torque I will have?

My truck is stock 2001. 5, Magnaflow 4", HY 35 turbo. Thanks Chris

I am going to guess about 330 rear wheel HP. I ran DDII's and a VA for the last 2 years. Great setup. Perfect all around.

My friend has the same set up you are getting. He dynoed at 300 h. p. and around 650 tq. His truck in a 99 with the HX turbo.

Should be 320 +/- 15 or so for your particular truck.

Any ideas what this combo would do on a 2001 ETH? BHAF, 4" exhaust.



I know ETHs don't respond as well to boxes, but better to injectors. So does it average out to about the same numbers? Or better/worse?

With an EZ and 275's along with whats in my sig, I put down 310 on a BD Mustang, FWIW.

This was on an 01 ETH.

Ill guess 310hp at the wheels for an ETC,and 330 or so for an ETH. Shanti is right . i have the dd2's and EZ in Dad's 01,with a DTT setup it is one strong pulling truck,and EGTS are never an issure,even with the stock Hy. We just turnbuckled it and run a BHAF.

mikel, Just curious, Do you have first hand knowledge about the BOMB disease??? Or do you mean that I am going to substansially shorten my engine life by these mods? Chris

300hp for II's & EZ in ETC.



In an ETH it would probably net 335 to 345hp.

Motorhead, I dynoed 297 hp & 617 lbs of tq. That's with a stock hy turbo.

my 02 eth dynoed 381/800 with the dd2s and a loose wire comp on 1x5. of course i had the pdr40/16



had mhaf and 4 in straight pipe



i was very happy with this combo on the eth

Well, I like the looks of those numbers. Guess I better start gathering some toll money for the rest of my trip down this long, dark road.



But for now, looks I need to find a place to install some DD2's before the DFW dyno day. I wish I had more time in town before then.

I was just giving you a hard time. Usually it goes something like this:



Install new injectors and WOW, that's alot of power!



Pretty soon the truck feels weak, so add bigger injectors or a fuel box and the WOW is back, but now there are issues with the transmission not holding if it's an auto or the clutch not holding if it's a stick shift.



And don't even get me started on the money that goes into 4" exhayst, gauges, fuel system upgrades, tires, and tickets...



Then, if you *really* get serious there's always hx40/50 upgrades, twins, drugs... It just never stops. But it sure is fun!

Uh, no.

Keep the egts in check. Let the turbo cool off before shutdown. Keep clean, quality oil in it. Avoid excessive idling. And dont forget to change coolant per owners manual.

My personal take on it is like this:



I *NEVER* hammer on a cold engine. For my personal truck this means that I drive easy no matter what until the thermostat opens. After that it's all fair game.



I keep the EGT's in control with either mods or the right foot, depending if it's necessary.



I *always* let the egt cool to 300 or less before I shut down.





Other than that I just change the oil every 5-6k in the engine, the fuel filter every other oil change and only buy fuel from truck stops that are busy.



I have no idea if this behavior will actually make a difference as I only have ~40k on my truck right now, but I'll find out. I expect to have this truck 8-10 years, so there's going to be plenty of time to see...
