Day before yesterday, I got to thinking that the electronic fueling boxes alter signals to the VP and this may speed their demise; may not do it either, but that is another topic.

I got to thinking, I cound install bigger injectors, unplug the EZ from the VP, but leave it plugged up with the MAP connections. This would give me fueling enhancements with injectors and no changes that affect the VP. With the EZ boost elbow installed, I could run higher boost (lower EGTs) and do all the fueling with injectors.

I e-mailed Arron at Edge and he said this would work. Unplugging the EZ from the VP but leaving the MAP plugs of the EZ connected would allow it to serve as a boost fooler. :) Oo.

Off to spend more money on injectors now. :D

Definatly do what you feel safe doing Mod wise, but there are a lot of guys running alots of fuel through the vp-44 with no problems but it can happen I personally am hoping not to have trouble for some time have 90k now and engine runs real good. It is more fun for sure with a box on top of injectors.

That edge EZ is one very expensive boost module :D :D Seem like a waste of a good box to use it for just a boost module.

All good points...

All good points and I probably will not spend any money on injectors real soon. This was just some of the wierd thinking I go through sometimes. It is always nice to know what you can and cannot do.

I love tinkering with things and figuring out how they work!:D

rashwor,

I was thinking the same thing, that injectors are easier on the pump than a box. My plan is to get some injectors and then drive with the comp turned off, leaving it set on 5x5 for when I "need" more power. I think this would help the engine last longer.

Matt

Knowing me

and how tight I am with my money, I will probably run the EZ until the VP goes belly up, replace the VP and get injectors at that time and leave the EZ unplugged from the new VP.

What started me to thinking about this was that I noticed under hard acceleration with a heavy load (14,000#) and the EZ hooked up, the VP does make a noticibly louder ticking noise.

I am at 134,000 + miles now on the original VP, so by no means has the VP been a slacker so far! Rock on!:D Oo.

115,000miles with PE Comp Drag Box with Big injectors. Box on 5X5 from dawn to dusk. Brick for throttle serving as cruise control and sofar the VP44 is just fine :D Kurt

Ive never heard of an EZ hurting a VP unless it was starving for fuel due to a bad lift pump. If your to nervous to hook up an EZ ,you really shouldnt go under your valve cover and bomb at all. If the pump is weak it will blow, with or without an EZ,the pump wire tap boxes are a different story.

I agree 100%... I test all of my customers trucks with over 30,000 miles for fuel pressure (UNDER FULL ENGINE LOAD) and find 25% or more have bad lift pumps... Kurt

I have to agree.
